Update!!! I add something new to this gun, a grenade launcher, to go see the new attachment go here.
Yes it is finally finished. It got a paint job last Sunday, it looks great. If you decide to paint a pvc pipe gun or cannon, before you apply the paint coat, get some stuff called "Bond Aid" this stuff helps make the paint stick to plastic surfaces. Then apply a primer coat, I use Krylon sandable primer. Then for the guns that you don't want to shine in the sun, get krylon camoflage colors, they have brown, black, olive, and alll the other colors used to make camo patterns. I used one coat of Bond Aid, one coat of the preimer and two coats of brown camoflage paint. The pictures didn't come out as nice as I wanted then to. I had to included a pic that I made with the fist model, the picture of the bolt. But to give you a idea of what the bolt looks like here is a drawing I made. I also shorten the stock abit so I can add things to the end of the barrel. The gun has about 50 hours of work and planing which was spread out over 5 months. the air chamber is 2"x6" with a 9 oz. co2 butt plate fitted on the end. the barrel is 1/2" sch.20 cold water pvc pipe, thats 16" long. I modified a elbow to a hopper to fit in the 1/2" tee. there is only one moving part, the bolt. I made the bolt out of 1/2" sch. 40 cold water pipe that I inserted a 1/2" hot water pipe inside the cold water pipe. I did this to give it more thickness and to be stonger when I milled the bolt. to get a full understanding of this gun you have to actually hold it and play with it for awhile. but right now. after I checked the prices I have found that this gun would be worth around $200 after I added all the things to that I wanted. I was going to add a co2 setup with a regulator to fill the chamber after every shot but to do this I need a remote system, regulator, a pressure gauge, and a pressure release valve. I would like to get this gun to a point that I could actually play with it with some limits of play. if anybody has some ideas in their heads about a way to set this gun up. throw them at me. my email is [email protected] I charge the tank up to 100 to 120 psi and shoot down range. I made the bolt to be a "bolt action" simular to the works of a pump gun but with out the pump handle, and return spring. just the bolt handle. |
