Commander John Robert Crichton, Jr., a scientist and astronaut for IASA from Earth, was accidently shot through a wormhole while performing using an experimental ship and a slingshot manuever, ending up very far from home. He found himself in the midst of a battle, was sideswiped by a passing ship (which was destroyed), and then taken on board a huge ship. He joined forces with the aliens on the ship, since he was now just as hunted as they were (since the Prowler pilot who was killed after his near miss was the Peacekeeper Capatin's brother). Life prior to being shot through a wormhole: He was the son of Jack Crichton, a former Apollo astronaut, and from the southern United States. He has two PhDs, and was performing an experiment that he and his best friend, DK, had designed when the accident occurred. Was serious about a pretty blonde named Alex and had planned to ask her to marry him, but she told him that she was leaving for Stanford before he could do so. Current whereabouts: Having somewhat successfully eluded Captain Bialar Crais through most of his first year (or cycle) from home, he was captured by the Peacekeepers and put in the Aurora Chair, where Scorpius, discovered John had the secrets of wormhole technology locked inside his mind, put there by the Ancients . John is now trying to stay out of Scorpius' grasp while also still trying to find a way back home. But he may be realizing that going home isn't the best thing for him now, especially with Scorpius after him, and his concern over what would happen to his friends if he (and they) did come to Earth. He is still on Moya in the Uncharted Territories.
