John Crichton. Take notes, cause this is gonna get rough. He's an American Astronaut who launches from Earth on an experimental mission. He's aboard the Farscape 1 Module that he and his childhood friend DK have spent years on. In one shining moment, poof! Wormhole opens. John is sucked clear and dry into the wormhole. He emerges at the other end to find a battle going on. And he runs smack dab into a Peacekeeper prowler, piloted by Bialar Crais' brother. The prowler explodes, John is left to wonder where he is. He escapes Peacekeeper grasps by leaving with a group of prisoners on a Leviathan ship named Moya.
After Season 1: John and Crew run into the Aurora Chair, a mindbending undoubtedly painful device, the baby of Scorpius. John gets strapped in for a ride and really, his sanity slips a little after that. After these events, John is relentlessly pursued by Scorpy, who wants to know about wormholes. Magic word for 2 thousand food cubes, anyone? Wormholes! In a brief summary, John now has a replicant of Scorpius inside his head, a neural clone, who aside from being in John's dreams, daydreams, and hallucinations, is completely independent to persuade John to do his bidding. But since the events of recent lore, Scorpius is mainly a companion to John, less conniving than the one he was modeled after.
Officer Aeryn Sun. Label her the two D's, "Dedicated and Deadly". She interacted with John long enough for Crais to deem her irreversibly contaminated and now she is a apart of the crew. Born Peacekeeper, she expected to die a PK, but well, that pesky human got in the way, didn't he? Things never go like you expect. So she's on Moya, the crew doesn't trust her at all, she doesn't trust them either, and to add to it, there's one confused human on board. Over time, the crew has learned the meaning of friendship. And as Stoic and Military Officer Sun is, she's found an attraction with John that has opened new doors to her path to the new language of caring and friendship.
After Season 1: Well, her and John get closer...closer...closer...CRAP! Kemper's done it again! Pulling in in in and in, but then yanking it all back again. Siiigh. But she's had many a quarrel with her PK buddies. Who knows? Then Kemper defied gravity again when the cliffhanger ended the season, and Aeryn. Killed by a Scorpius controlled John, she died and was frozen in a burial tube. But of course, she's alive and kicking now, thanks to Zhaan.
Ka D'argo, my main Luxon. He's a warrior, a former farmer, and a fellow prisoner. His hardships increased as he found himself surrounded by a Delvian priestess, a Hynerian Dominar, a Peacekeeper, and yes, the human representative. His friendship with John didn't quite come so easily. At first, the word "trust" wasn't even in his vocabulary. But as always, over the course of running for your lives and escaping danger at every turn, someone has to give. And D'argo and John have had a lasting friendship of honor. This is tested when Scorpius takes D'argo's lost son and offers to trade him for John. We see here that not even Scorpius can break the ties between good friends, as John goes to Scorpy in exchange for D'argo's son.
After Season 1: Well, D'argo and Chiana grew closer. Then D'argo found his son again, and things frelled up big time. D'argo's son was with Scorpius, used as leverage to attain John. While John traded himself for Jothee, D'argo ended up fighting for John to get him back to them, while Jothee refused to take part in the plan, citing that it was not his fight. He changes later one, when he sees the loyalty presented. Later, we see that Jothee and Chiana grow closer, while Chiana and D'argo grow further apart, probably because D'argo had plans for them to be together, on a farm. Picket fence and 2.5 kids? Chiana wouldn't have any of it. So she sleeps with Jothee, and the rift between D'argo and Chiana grows irreversibly wide.
Pa'u Zhoto Zhaan, Delvian Priestess. Some things to know. She's blue, she's a plant, she's not as peaceful as she looks, and she can kick your ass if you cross her. She has the ability to take another's pain and she has done so selflessly. She has been the voice of logic in a otherwise biased situation and she has time and time again proven to be one of the most caring individuals on Moya. In their journeys, the crew has met many different species of aliens. Stark is the most significant. He and Zhaan grew close, and his undying love for Zhaan has been expressed.
After Season 1: Poor Zhaan. Been through so much. She's been the peaceful one, but as of late, she's been the subject of torment. Saved Aeryn from death, but then ended as a horrid fate herself. Virginia Hey left the series and her character of Zhaan on Moya the past season and a half, but we still love her.
Rygel XVI, Dominar of countless Hynerians...until he was kicked out and off the throne, and kicked into a prison. He's royalty, and the snootiness goes along with the package. He's diminuative, but he packs a whole lot of selfishness. Even in his self-centered universe, though, Rygel finds the good in others, and Zhaan often reminds him of the greater good he himself contains. The crew regards him as a pain most of the time, but he has shown to be an unlikely ally when it comes to negotiating and foreign policy. While he has been mistreated by the crew, he has also harnassed a hatred for Durka, the man who tortured him during his time in prison. He has finally made peace with his hatred, by advice from Zhaan. Zhaan is his conscience, for surely without the Pa'u, his hatred would go on until he would be consumed by it.
After Season 1: not much has happened to Ryg. he's the same old same old guy, hovering everywhere. He's become much more than a puppet to the crew though, he's a great advice giver and their prime negotiator.
Chiana. She's a survivor, that's for sure. She's a thief and she'll do what it takes. She came to Moya as a temporary character, and she popped on and off every other episode. In time, she established herself as a worthy crew member and since then she has broadened the horizons of all, even Aeryn. With John she found someone who's caring and who didn't see her as just a thief. With D'argo, well...let's just say they had a lot of fun and leave it at that.
After Season 1: well the fun stopped, didn't it? Look at D'argo for everything.
Pilot is essential to the crew unlike any other crew member. He literally runs Moya, from her Starbust Capabilities to her Docking Web, Pilot is responsible for all of those functions. Over the course of two seasons, Pilot has been shown to be more of a three dimensional character than some give him credit for. His hatred and eventual forgiveness of Aeryn when she was with the peacekeepers and killed the former Pilot of Moya has made him grow into a full and emotional character, one not to be forgotten.
No mention of Farscape can be made without Moya, since she is literally the center of the crew. She is a living ship, biological as well as mechanical. Alongside Pilot, her symbiont, little DRDs zip along her corridors, fixing and mending whenever she needs it. Her species, the Leviathans, are a peaceful class of vessels, thus it is worth noting that Moya has no weapons of her own. She is protected by a Defense Shield, taken off another ship after she and the crew escaped. Her other escape capability is Starburst, which enables to crew to leave the scene of...well, anything.
Okay, Talyn's not a part of the crew, but it doesn't matter. Talyn is Moya's child. When D'argo disconnected something or other, that started Moya's pregnancy and when Talyn was born, he needed guidance. Of course, guidance didn't come, but Crais did. Crais took Talyn and they traipse across the galaxy wreaking havoc. Unlike other Leviathans, Talyn is half peacekeeper warship, which means it is outfitted with TONS of weapons, making it a formidable target for the PKs to acquire.
The Peacekeepers. They're tougher than all the armed forces. They're ruthless in their ways and they know they got skills. They're more than military, they're commando. You'll find most of them in their standard uniform of red and black, pulse pistol, pulse rifle, and a scowl. No smiles allowed. They travel in command carriers, large and very very deadly destroyers. Individual pilots fly around the galaxy most of the time in Prowlers, fighter planes that are as black and red as they are. Rate of Deadliness: They're large and in charge, and highly mobile. Their command is strict, clear, and regimented. A few might be losing their marbles (maybe too much raslak) but all in all, things are tight as a drum. Rating: 4
Bialar Crais, Peacekeeper Commander. Well, former. He's out for human blood and seeks revenge on John for "murdering" his brother. In "Family Ties" Crais takes Talyn, Moya's child and half PK warship, and takes command. In time, despite their differences, he has proven to be an ally and at times, even an understandable friend in the crew. He shares common understanding with John, since he too was made to suffer in the Aurora Chair that Scorpius built. There also happens to be a bit of history between him and Aeryn Sun (they were both PKs of course), leading to John's speculation that she might have feelings toward him. It is soon apparent, however, that Crais doesn't capture the fancy of Aeryn. Rate of Deadliness: He's lost some marbles and he travels alone, but he's also on board Talyn. Talyn has the strength of possibly any command carrier, or at least a small squadron of Prowlers. Rate of Deadliness: Crais: 3
Crais. Wow. Crais ended up being a good guy, helping out the Moya crew even if they never agreed on many things. He also developed a love for Aeryn, which irked John. But in the end, Crais ended up being a good ally.
Ahhh! Scorpius. Do you even have to ask? This badass son of a peacekeeper is a Sebacean/Scarran mix. Don't even ask how that happened. We've seen Scarrans.... He's the mastermind behind the Aurora Chair and he has his right hand man Bracka at his side, who's main accomplishment with Scorpy seems to be saying "yes" different times. Something you gotta know about Sebaceans. They're highly sensitive to heat. Scorpius, being a hybrid, has that bad part. He needs a cooling rod, which is in his head, every so often to calm him down. This presents a big liability if he's ever caught without a cooling rod. He is a despicable and evil character that will stop at nothing to getting the wormhole technology from John's brain, which he has successfully done. So much for security.
Scorpy put himself in John's head, as we know. However, his neural clone is a little less stiff, and more comical. The hawaiian shirts are great, Scorpy.
