| Kevin celebrated some monumental events this year with his 25th work anniversary at the University of Missouri in January and his 50th birthday in March. We had an Open House for his birthday and rubbed in the fact that he was OLD! |

Kevin took up a new hobby this year that he has wanted to do for years. He bought a bass guitar,
took a few lessons and is now a part of the new instrumental worship leadership team at
church. He
plays for the chorus time each Sunday morning at the second service and loves it. When he listens
to music he hears the bass part even more than before.
Naomi is also involved with the worship leadership teams. She is part of the vocal group that leads on the first and third Sundays of each month. Even the Wednesday night practices are great worship times. |
| Naomi made her classical debut in September singing the soprano solo (listen to her part by clicking
here) in our church choirs
Fourth Annual Concert with the Columbia Civic Orchestra.
The performance featured Poulencs
Gloria for Chorus and Orchestra,
Chabiers Espana for Orchestra and Poulencs Concerto in D minor for 2 Pianos and Orchestra.
Naomi continues to enjoy her ministry with Internationals. It is a great opportunity to learn about different cultures while sharing our American culture with them. |

Kevin and Naomi enjoy many other common interests such as singing in the church choir and
playing hand bells. Also this year, as we have at times in the past, we played in our church
co-ed volleyball league. Naomi ended the season with a bang on October 25th by breaking her left
wrist trying to return a spike. It made for an interesting few months. The cast is finally off
and normal movement is coming back slowly.
During the summer months we traveled to St. Louis on six Saturday evenings to attend outdoor theatrical musical performances at the MUNY. We saw Beauty and the Beast, Annie Get Your Gun, Singin in the Rain, Mame, West Side Story and the Sound of Music. |
| In May we vacationed in sunny California. We flew to San Jose and spent four days in the San Francisco area before venturing down to Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. From there we headed to the coast to drive up Highway 1 with stops at San Simeon to tour Randolph Hearsts castle and Monterey to enjoy the aquarium . While in San Francisco we stayed at a bed & breakfast and got to know a wonderful transplanted Hungarian Jewish couple. One morning over breakfast Yolana told us about some of her experiences during WWII regarding Auschwitz. | ![]() |

Erikas big event of the year was traveling to Florida with us in September. She was so excited to spend time at Universal Studios and the beach. She enjoyed visiting the Lego Store in Downtown Disney and got to eat at the Hard Rock Caf Orlando. We made it a point to attend her cousins wedding too where Erika danced the night away with her cousins and their friends. |
| Jill is still living in Portland, Oregon. She continues to work as a massage therapist
but has also started classes at Portland State this year.
Her emphasis is International Studies. Surely it will lead her to many more interesting places
around the world. Her big trip this year was to
Thailand
only one month after the tsunami hit. She visited the east side of the island that was not damaged
by the disaster. She shared with us about an interesting encounter with a group of mean monkeys
near some temple ruins. Jill made it home in November for a Missouri Thanksgiving with family.
In September Kevin traveled with Michael to the Windy City to get him settled in at college. While there they were able to do some sightseeing, taking in the Navy Pier and the Museum of Science and Industry. He has just completed his first semester at Columbia College of Chicago and is majoring in film editing. He continues to travel to Peoria once a month for his Air Guard duty. |

We are thankful to have wonderful family and friends like you. We hope that you have a great holiday season and pray that God will bless you so you may be a blessing to others. |
Love,
Kevin & Naomi Scantlan
