Mrs. James Diamond

On December 28, 1917, at one o'clock p.m., the beloved wife of James Diamond passed to eternal rest, at the family residence in Kendall, aged 62 years.

Mary O'Brien was the eldest daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence O'Brien.

Deceased was born in New Diggings, Wis., February 17, 1855, and on March 28, 1879, she was united in marriage to James Diamond.  Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn her loss, six children, namely: Mrs. Dan Deery, Mrs. John Donahoe, Mrs. Chas. McKeon, James, Annie and Patrick.  One child dying in infancy.  She is also survived by her aged mother, one brother and three sisters and three grandchildren.

For many months the decased has been in delicate health, and about three weeks before her death, she was taken to her bed and at times suffered intense pain; but there was ever the pleasant smile for others, the kind words of advice and encouragement to those dear to her.  She was of a kind disposition, a loving wife and mother and a good neighbor.  Her hospitable doors were ever open, and it was her constant effort to render home the most pleasant place on earth to those she loved best.

The funeral was held Monday morning, Decembe 31, at ten o'clock, and was largely attended.  Services were held at the Catholic church, Requiem High Mass being sung by the pastor, Rev Father Morris.  The remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery at Truman, to await the coming of her loved ones.  The pall bearers were Messrs Frank McKeon, James McKeon, Luke Donaho, Owen McDermott, James Deery and Patrick McDonald.

Dearest Mother, thou hast left us,
And thy loss we deeply feel;
But the God that has bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal.

No more that sweet voice we shall hear,
And yet we loved her, Oh so dear,
But Christ has called her, she must go,
Tho' our hearts be filled with woe.

Yet we know she is at rest,
Sweetly on her Saviour's breast;
And when life on earth is done.
We hope to meet her once again.

CARD OF THANKS

We wish to thank the many friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us during the illness and burial of our beloved wife and mother.
