Rules & Regulations
The intent of Scale
Dirt Racing (SDR) bring
● Realism
to slot car racing making the looks of the cars first priority
● A real racing format, as much as possible
● Keep
performance cost to a minimum.
Plus running the
alternating class weekly gives the racer that can’t run every week a chance to
run for points. Pick your favorite class and run that week. That eliminates the
weekly pressure. If you can make all classes every week, that’s great. You’re a
die-hard. To run SDR you must be willing to go the extra mile on looks of the
cars and must have the discipline to run the format with “sportsman like
conduct”. If this describes you, welcome to the SDR.

CLUB RULES &
POLICY:
1. No
smoking in building
2. No
arguing or poor sportsman like conduct
3. Clean
up any mess you make in your pit before you leave (throw garbage in cans).
4. No
ruff riding. This is wrecking someone on purpose. We will also be watching for
driving over your capability and wrecking racers or running your car that is
working bad. You will be warned 2 times, 3rd
time you will have to pull your car. It’s not fair to wreck others because of
poor sportsman like conduct.
5. No
stealing or damaging others equipment.
6. No
fighting
7. No
cheating
8. No
foul language.
All rules and policies
will be enforced. Some verbal warnings, but continued abuse will result in
suspension. Some infractions will result in loss of points. Some infraction
will result in immediate dismissal and loss of membership.
All enforcement will be
voted on by committee the day of infraction or will notify driver before next
race.
Possible Club Ventures:
1. Articals in slotcar magazines /
area auto racing news
2. Show cars
at race car shows
3. Set up
races at other tracks on Friday night or Sunday for exhibition non points.
4. Get
businesses for race sponsors for cash races or add to the end of year point
fund. At the end it could turn into a really good point fund. We could get
trophies, banquet, and possible cash payout at the end of the season for
points.
5. 6%
discount on parts and 5% discount on LRE cars.
GENERAL
RULES:
1. Any new or
replacement parts for use in the current year must be approved by the SDR. The
part will not be allowed in use until the part is available for 2 weeks to the
general public over the sales counter. At that time the new or replacement part
will be added to the current rules. At the end of the season the new part will
replace the old in the rules. Till then you can race old and new parts after
meeting the 2 week availability. Old part still could be legal if it is still
available.
2. If you have an idea
about the cars or format or if you are not clear on a rule, bring it up with
one of the SDR directors and they will be able to give you an explanation or
yes or no answer. If the director deems it necessary, it will be brought up
with the other directors to be discussed with the person bringing up the
question or idea. Do not make a scene during racing. See a director before or
after the race. It is your responsibility to find out all the rules and
procedures before you start racing with the SDR because it might not be for you
and we do not want the negative attitude. Plus we don’t want you wasting your
money on cars if you can’t adapt to the SDR system. We will be strict on
penalizing poor sportsman like conduct.
3. No oil or braid juice
during mains(heats, consi,
and feature).
4. At the track the
driver only may work on the car. No pit crews. It is not fair to the other
racers that do not have a crew. In the pits It does
not matter, but on the track you check the car yourself. A quick tweak after a
wreck by a turn marshall and that’s it. Drivers will
not leave the panel unless asked to do so. If the starter feels your car is a
hazard to the other cars, he can black flag your car for the segment or until
the cause of the hazard is repaired. If you can’t get your car fixed, have
consideration for the others in the race and pull the car without going until a
black flag condition is put on you. It is better to make your own decision to
pull, than be publicly black flagged.
5. At the end of each
segment, drivers will have approximately 30 – 45 sconds
to change lands and make a quick adjustment to car if necessary. If you are not ready at the panel when timer
gets down to 3 seconds, your car will be pulled for that segment.
6. There will be a 10
minute prep period for consolation and feature. This will be policed by the use
of a timer. If you do not have your car to tech in that time you will sit out
the first segment.
7. Every Member will
participate in turn marshaling. (Unless exempt for health reasons or other
reasons ok’d by committee. If you are not racing you
are to be marshaling unless exempt. There will be no working on equipment while
racing is going on. You will be warned on the 1st offense, 2nd
offense you will sit out a segment in your race.
8. There will not be
mandatory tear downs unless the directors feel something is not right. They
have the right to tear you down at any time. Any minor rule violation causes
loss of points for that night. Any major rule violation causes loss of points
for the night plus 1 week off in the class you had the infraction. Refusal to
allow your car to be inspected will be treated as a major rule violation.
9. You may loan or
change cars but the car must go through tech and the driver must do the work on
the car while the car is on the track. If the driver qualified his own car in
the heat he forfeits his finish and has to run the consi.
If a driver comes in late and gets a ride, he can race as long as the consi did not start and the car has gone through tech. The
driver must be the one to work on the car at the track, not the owner of the
car. If a driver comes in late with his own entry the same applies for the
driver getting a ride.
10. Decisions on
rule interpretations or additions are made by the directors and considered
final. If you still don’t agree, you will get a DNF and 1 week suspension. If
the same person brings up the issue again or trouble just because of the last
DNF at another race, and you get a DNF again from it, you will be suspended for
1 month. Continuing this again for a 3rd time will remove you from
SDR racing in that class for the rest of the season.
11. Tech will be
done by each committee member on a rotating schedule. If committee member will
be absent the week he is scheduled to Tech, it is his responsibility to switch
with another committee member.
12. If for any reason (track maintenance, track owner
gets phone call, etc...) that a red flag is called, there will be no working on
cars.
13. Do not go up to computer between segments.
Race
Format
Racing
starts at 2:00 pm (all drivers should be signed in and have there
cars teched)
Motors
must be purchased and etched at the track.
Only motors that have been etched at the track are legal.
Sign in, pick a number
(the number you pick is the number you use in each class you enter).
This number sets you up
for the heat.
(example:
heat#1-1,4,7,10 heat#2- 2,5,8,11 heat #3-3,6,9,12)
The number of heats
will depend on the number of drivers signed in.
4 drivers - just run a
feature.
5-12 drivers - run 2
heats (3 drivers will qualify from each heat)
13-24 drivers - run 3
heats (2 drivers will qualify from each heat)
25
and more - only heat winner will qualify from each heat.
The heats will be 8
laps.
The unqualified drivers
will run a consi for the remaining spots in the feature, this will be an 8 lap round robin. Lineup will be
as follows: first non qualifier in heat#1(black), first non qualifier in heat#2
(purple), 2nd non qualifier in heat#1(yellow), 2nd non
qualifier in heat#2(blue) and so on.
If there are sit outs,
the sit out driver will come on red. Driver on white will sit out till its his turn to come back on.
Features
will be 12 laps.
Start
of mains will be a staggered start.
Crash spots: anywhere
in the turn will start at the beginning of turn, coming off the turn will start
at the beginning of the straight or just in front of lap counter if you got
your lap.
Racers are allowed to
pay for weeks that they will be absent in advance. They will be awarded sign in
bonus and 9th place points.
SDR
POINT SYSTEM:
sign in bonus 2 pts
heat winners 2 pts
feature: 1st - 10,
2nd - 8, 3rd - 7, 4th - 6, 5th - 5,
6th - 4, 7th - 3, 8th - 2
9th place on
back will receive 1 point.
Overall Champion will be determined at
the end of the year by the total points earned in all classes. The more classes
you run the greater your chance to win this title.
