"Behind Enemy Lines-Fighting the Gender Bias in the Family Court System"

by Charlton Hall

I am currently researching a book based on the struggle fathers have with the Family Court System.  I am relying heavily on statistics, which are not often easy to come by.  I am also looking for stories from South Carolina fathers concerning their struggles with the South Carolina Family Court System.  We can make a difference with your help!

Once the book is published, it is my goal to have a copy sent to every legislator and Family Court judge in the state of South Carolina.  Please continue to visit this web site for release date and progress reports.

If you would like to submit a story for submission, please adhere to the following guidelines, then email me at [email protected]:

1.  Stick to the facts.  We've all had bad experiences in Family Court, but I don't want this to turn into a wife-bashing tome.  Please mention only legitimate abuses by the Family Court System.

2.  Please use only first names unless mentioning a Family Court judge or attorney.

3.  Please keep the story to 500 words or less.

4.  State the county, and if possible, the city in which the divorce occured.

5.  Rather than mentioning figures, please try to stick to percentage of your take-home pay.

6.  Please include the following details if possible:

    a.  Judge's name

    b.  County in which the divorce action took place

    c.  State in which the divorce action took place (the primary focus is on S. C., but other states will be considered).

    d.  The outcome of the divorce (who got custody).

    e.  Number, gender, and ages of children involved

    f.  Grounds for divorce

    g.  If you felt you were denied your rights because of your gender, please state why and the circumstances.

    h.  Include an email address for verification purposes.

    i.  Please include a statement that the information may be used for publication.
