People come to NCF to praise, worship, glorify and experience God and to hear what He is speaking through His people. If we are not completely dedicated to our tasks, we may do something (or not do something) that would interrupt this public service and therefore interrupt the flow of God's word to the people. Below is a loose outline of "typical" service and what we need to do and watch for. This may change from time to time as equipment, events and procedures change.
BEFORE PRACTICE
Please be at the sound booth a few minutes (fifteen minutes?) before the start of practice.
Read log since your last turn in the booth
Turn system on (Power strip for mixer, eqs, THEN AMPS LAST !)
(Opposite when turning off , this avoids a POP!)
Check mixer for proper settings and make wireless mics ready (batteries checked)
Get pre-service music ready and "Word" tape ready (Rec/Pause)
Soundcheck mics and monitors
(NEVER approach the Pastor with a problem during pre-service practice,
unless it is critical and no one else is available)
PRACTICE
Watch for signals from Worship Leader (don't offer advice or comment unless asked)
LISTEN for mics and musicians at proper levels
CLARIFY request from Worship Leader (do you want her mic up or her kybd up?)
After practice
BEFORE SERVICE
Move all mics up and recheck mics
Start pre-service music
Attend pre-service prayer if time and duties permit
BE READY FOR CHANGES IN THE ORDER OF SERVICE
SERVICE Begins
Muscians start, Stop the pre-service tape/CD
LISTEN for mics and musicians at proper levels and
WATCH for signals from the Worship Leader
Use Channel Faders to adjust individual levels! (Use of gain will also affect stage monitors!)
Use Group Faders for Vocal/Music balance!
Prayer, Listen for clear, "comfortable" voice w/o noise/distortion
(We want them to hear the speaker not the sound system)
Praise Songs, Watch for equipment/channel peaking
Worship Songs, Listen for clear sounds w/o noise/distortion
Prophetic Words, Standby to record (Rec/Pause) (Better to record too much than not enough)
Worship Leader / Pastor invites Worship Team to their seats, (Mute their mics?)
Announcements, Listen for clear, "comfortable" voice w/o noise/distortion
Offering, Be alert for song during offering and re-adjust mix (kybd mic up!)
Specials, Watch for use of mics (Our duties will vary, be ready for anything)
Message, Be ready to lower handheld and raise lapel (Mute all other mics? (feedback sources))
(Watch for lights on wireless receivers, this helps avoid the pops)
Count attendance (Note scripture reference & message title then
make log entries)
End of Message / Alter Call
If recording, keep recording until end of service
Unmute all mics (? If muted earlier.)
Keep Pastors comments above other vocals and music
After Service
Give Ms. Linda the count
Make tapes (No money, no tape)
Charge batteries (set timer all the way clockwise till stop)
Turn system off (FIRST POWER AMPS, then mixer power strip, this avoids a POP!)
Cleanup booth
