| The Final Results This is going to be a pretty short one but I now told you who was the best of the big man and the best of the guards, but I never said who the Jazz should draft if they were all available. So that is what Im going to do now. So here it is, without first putting up a long story: 1. Kareem Rush 2. Melvin Ely 3. Jiri Welsch 4. Dan Dickau 5. Casey Jacobsen 6. Sam Clancy 7. Dan Gadzuric 8. Roger Mason 9. Carlos Boozer 10. Jason Jennings 11. Luis Scola 12. Frank Williams 13. Marcus Haislip 14. Jamal Sampson 15. Elvin Mims The first thing you probably notice is that I ranked the guards higher than the big guys. With the exception of Ely there are all guards in the top 5 and in the top 5 are the people I want them to draft. Normally Sam Clancy could be there but the injury obviously didnt help but even if he wasnt injured he might just be fifth on my list instead of Casey Jacobsen. One of the reasons for this is that I personally think the Jazz need a good guard, a good shooting guard to be precise. Kareem Rush is a good shooting, shooting guard so he would be able to help the team. Jiri Welsch also has a nice touch and unlike Raul Lopez he wont have any problems with his contract. He has learned a lot in Europe and is a reasonable defender and a good shooter, what else can you want? Dan Dickau is a point guard and with Raul Lopez coming it might be a bad move to get Dickau. Two point guards for the future is definitely not a good thing if you still have several other positions to worry about. But I am very impressed by Dan Dickau and maybe it is good to have two point guards learning from John Stockton. Casey Jacobsen isnt as good on defence as Welsch and Rush but the guy can flat out shoot. He is also a good passer for a 2-guard and he reminds me of Hornacek. But Stockton isnt the defender he used to be and with Jacobsen Im afraid the opposing guards would get too many points. But on the other hand, you can also out-smarten them. Stockton has done that the last couple of years and Jacobsen should learn to do that as well so that he can defend the more athletic shooting guards. But he can shoot from down-town and would be a welcome addition. Clancy is a good player and a great rebounder, especially for his size. He always amazes me but I dont think we need him more than any of the players in the top 5. Dan Gadzuric needs to control the ball better but an athletic center is something we still need to try and I wouldnt mind trying it with Gadzuric. He needs to learn a lot of things, like how to react on double-teams and when to take shots, but Gadzuric is very coachable so that should be no problem. Roger Mason is a nice combo-guard with great passing skills and a good medium range jumper. Not a great player but he could be very solid in the future. Boozer has the body of a power forward. If you want to know how the body of a power forward should look you just have to take a look at Boozer. He uses his body very well and hits a high percentage of his shots although he should learn to shoot the ball from mid-range. If he learns that he immediately goes up in my eyes because I think a power forward should be able to hit the jumper like Malone, Horry and a lot of other power forwards do. After Boozer the people I rather not draft come. And if you want to know my opinion on them just read the other draft reports. It would be great to draft someone out of the top 5 because I think those are the best players available at the nineteenth pick. I also think those guys would fit in perfectly with the Jazz so I really hope they pick one of those. So now you know who I feel are the players the Jazz should try to draft and who they have to draft if they are all available. Some days before the draft I will release my mock draft and then I hope I have given enough information about the draft. I am already getting excited about this years draft and I hope you are too because it is a deep draft with all kinds of good players. |
