Burning Fallon

Pronounced ( fowl' en ) The plant that I first came to know as Burning Fallon, maybe 15 years ago, everybody else calls Nettle. An unpleasant plant that has poisoned itself for defense against grazers. It is particuarly virulent June thru August, touching it can be like getting a bee sting and it has caused me to get welts. There is a theory that it has medicinal value but there are so much better teas and things I wonder why anyone would bother with it. I saw a reference to Fallon in a book once, circa 1997 at the Federal Way Washington library. Since then I have never heard Fallon refered to as that except by me and a couple of people I taught. Looked hard on the web and could not find a single reference to Fallon. I write this so others looking for Burning Fallon can find it and know it was the same plant as Nettle. If anyone has a published reference to Fallon or the book that I mentioned please email at [email protected]
