1)How did you get involved with SLEEPAWAY CAMP (meeting Robert Hiltzik, audtioning, the whole story)?
I had been taking dancing lessons from a local performing arts school, and
my mom wanted me to do it professionally. We had heard about a manager
that handled children and they called me about an audition for a film. The
only real requirement I can remember was that the 13 year old character,
Angela, had to be flat chested. My audition with Robert was fantastic
because he's such an incredible person. He had me do some improv stuff and
it was fairly quick.
2)What did your family (and friends) think about the movie?
My brother always reminds me how much crap he had to take because he was 10
at the time and kids can be cruel. A lot of people were really supportive
and thought it was a cool movie!
3)What was it like while filming?
The filming was great because the whole cast and crew were really nice and
totally fun! I had a crush on Jonathan Tiersten and became best friends
with John Dunn, he played Kenny.
4)What is your fondest memory of making 'Sleepaway Camp'?
Wow, that's a hard one because the whole shoot was memorable. I guess it
would have to be when we were in the rec hall and Kenny and Tom Van Dell's
character(I can't remember who he played) were filming the whole "why don't
you come skinny dipping" scene because we laughed so hard I was
crying!!! And I finally got to talk in that scene. We were also filming
through the night and sleeping during the day so I think we were giddy!
Do you like horror movies?
I haven't seen any. I get really scared!
6)Was it exciting to be in one?
Oh yeah! We had a ball! And it wasn't scary at all!
7)I know you were asked to do the sequels and declined, but if you were asked to reprise your role as Angela now, would you?
Only with Robert Hiltzik at the helm! I totally trust him and love his
ideas and story telling!
8)Have you seen the sequels? If so, what did you think of them?
I haven't seen them yet......
9)Did you keep any props or costumes or other memorabilia from 'Sleepaway Camp'?
I have lots of photos, a journal, and awesome memories!
10)Do you have your own copy? When was the last time you saw the movie?
I have a copy....somewhere! I always lend it out and never get it
back! This time my brother took it......I saw it last week because Robert
Hiltzik came over so we could do commentary for the DVD!
11)Do you keep in touch with anyone from the cast or crew?
I'm now back in touch with Robert, the genius, Hiltzik and John Dunn is
still a very dear friend of mine!
12)Where exactly was the film shot?
It was in Fort Edwards. But we stayed in Glenns Falls, NY.
13)I've read it was filmed at an actual camp. Can you tell me where the camp was located and if it is still around?
I think the camp was in Fort Edwards and it's no longer around.
14)What was The Master himself (Robert Hiltzik ) like?
Let's see...If there were a million ways that I could say incredible, I
would! Sweet, smart, insightful, talented, good natured, sincere and
simply fantastic!
15)What did you go on to do after 'Sleepaway Camp'?
Lots of TV commercials, bit parts in films, TV movies of the week and tons
of theatre.
16)What are you up to today?
I work with my husband in a theatre company doing original comedies. And
still do commercials. I just finished another, short, horror movie and
will begin shooting a feature in August called "In Lies We Trust".
17)Was the whole 'Sleepaway Camp' experiance a positive one?
DEFINITELY.
18)Are you happy to be remembered for it or sick of us fans?
Extremely happy and grateful to you guys for keeping it alive!
19)Looking back at the movie, what was your favorite scene to film?
Getting thrown in the water!
20)Describe yourself in one word...
Hmmmm....that's hard because I'm a gemini and I have a lot of different
facets to my personality.... I guess it would have to be, honest.
