On Location

In 2000, I was fortunate enough to be contacted by someone who knew the filming locations for Sleepaway Camp. The experience is one I'll never forget, and nothing can compare to it. Below are the pictures taken on my trips.

Sleepaway Camp was filmed during the autumn season of 1982 at a secluded camp in Argyle, New York. Camp Algonquin was the setting used for the fictional Camp Arawak. Robert Hiltzik attended the camp as a boy and returned years later to direct his first film. On May 14 2000, one of my dreams literally came true as I set foot on the actual grounds of where Sleepaway Camp was filmed. Lake Summit, encircled by private property and year round residents, remains as peaceful and serene as it was in Sleepaway Camp.
