Director's Cut
In 1998 there was a rumor going around the internet that somehow, among all the copies of Sleepaway Camp that had been released both by Media and Video Treasures, an escapee Director's Cut had been floating around unsuspected disguised in a plain video sleeve looking like all the others. Copies were said to be scarce and the people to find them, lucky. Some of the scenes said to be in this rare find were: More pranks pulled on Mozart, more foul language from Ricky and a longer basball scene. There were even people giving a detailed description of the infamous fabled alternate ending. Supposedly Angela was taken away in cuffs and then brought to a psychiactric hospital where they showed her with short hair staring at the camera. Felissa Rose has put an end to the rumor by stating "There was absolutely no other ending than the one you saw in the film. In the original script that's just exactly the way it played out! That's it. There was nothing else. That's exactly the way Robert Hiltzik intended." But co-star Jonathan Tiersten did confirm there were some extended scenes not shown in the movie. Said Tiersten "The baseball game was a lot longer...and the scene where I am talking to Mozart ("Mind Over Matter") was originally a LOT longer...I told Robert that it was too long and that made it boring" There is no diffrence in the content of the movie between Media and Video Treasures. It's the same exact print. The only diffrences are at which the speed plays and the missing dedication not shown in the Video Treasures edition. That was replaced with their logo. Since the release of Sleepaway Camp by Anchor Bay, consider your Media and Video Treasures copies the definitive director's cut. Anchor Bays prints were cut! |
