Recreation

General Ideas and Issues

More variety of park sizes and types.

Most people tend to place heavy emphasis on the use of parks. Parks are what makes a city look great or boring. It helps breakup the pattern and increase land value.

With the new version of SimCity, the game should provide a larger selection of park tile sizes as well as introducing various special tiles that act as plaza areas and beaches.

Small Park 1x1

Playground 2x2

Good

Good Good
Same as in SC3000.
Small Pond 2x2

Good

Good Good
Same as in SC3000.
Large Pond (Lake) 3x3

Good

Good Good
This would be a larger version of the existing pond
Large Park 3x3

Good

Good Good
Use the existing onramps from SC3000 for raised highways
Very Large Park 4x4

Good

Good Good
A large 4x4 park would make it much easier to construct large parkland areas and break up the bland look of 3x3 parks placed together.
Plaza Area 1x1

Good

Good Good
Interlinking tile that has a concrete plaza look. This helps in breaking up the overall green look when constructing large parks. This tile also helps reduce the "forest in front of the skyscraper" look when placing parks in your CBD.
Small Beach 1x1

Good

Good Good
The small beach tile could make shore lines look more realistic and would provide the same effect as a small park. This way you don't end up with trees on your shoreline to represent resorts.
Public Beach 2x2

Good

Good Good
This beach would represent the more larger and established swimming areas. Areas like Bondi Beach in Australia, the Californian beaches and the Gold Coast in the Chicago area are a good example of what this tile represents.

Sports Facilities

Ball Park 2x2

Good

Good Good
Represents a small sporting facility. Can be something generic.
Sport Ground 3x3

Good

Good Good
Existing sport park reduced down to 3x3
Sports Center 3x3

Good

Good Good
Indoor sporting facility, this facility would benefit both residential and commercial areas as the business is good for growth. Effects are identical to the Sport Ground except it is a covered building.
Stadium 4x4

Good

Good Good
Including the original Sim Stadiums would be an improvement. Majority of people have requested that the stadiums be brought back. The stadium should be a multi-look building type.

If the sport naming ability is not brought back, then players should be able to at least give each stadium a unique name.

Religious Buildings

Church 2x2

Good

Good Neutral
Churches play a very important role in any city and in most cases, cities have been built around large churches such as in France, Britain and Germany.

Churches should be made available in the game and should be a multi-look tileset.

Animals

Zoo 4x4

Good

Good Neutral
Same as in SC3000, except they should be a multi-look tileset.
Aquarium 3x3

Good

Good Neutral
Every major city in the world has at least one or even more aquariums. These buildings should be included in the next version as they would compliment recreation centers in a city very well.

Should be a multi-place tileset

Cultural

Theatre 2x2

Good

Good Neutral
Theatres should be included in the next version as they would be a better way to represent Broadway districts that are found in many cities around the world.

Theatres should be a multi-look tileset.

Museums 3x3

Good

Good Neutral
Same as in SC3000.
Exposition/Convention Center 4x4

Good

Good Neutral
Large hall structure that is designed in a way as to allow them to seem interlocked when placed against each other. This way you can have large rows of these halls as is the case in many parts of the world.
