DOB: 1880
POB: London, England
Occupation: Former Big Bad, now resident Soulful Vampire of the People in L.A.
A vampire from 19th century England, Spike got his former (pre-bloodsucker) name, William the Bloody, because of his bloody awful poetry. In 1880 the sensitive poet was sired by his Vampire lover Drusilla and became our loveable Spike because of his torturing victims with railroad spikes. Spike has killed two Slayers: one lived during the Boxer Rebellion; the second was a black woman and mother in New York whom Spike got his coat from.

As one of the most interesting members of the towns night stalkers, Spike had an off-and-on relationship with Drusilla, who ended up leaving our favorite bad boy the first time for the Chaos Demon and the second time for a Fungus Demon. According to Dru, the poet-turned-psychotic Slayer killer simply wasn't evil enough for her.
Spike then returned to Sunnydale in search of the Gem of Amarra, which would make him invincible. Eventually, Spike began dating Harmony, a former Sunnydale High snob. Not surprisingly, that didn't work out, and somewhere along the line, Spike developed an unhealthy interest in more than just Buffy's blood: he wanted her body.

When the Initiative implanted a chip in Spike's brain to make him harmless to humans, Spike became more a member of the Scooby Gang than the actual bad guy. His sharp tongue and seductive attitude were eventually irresistible to Buffy, and they began a passionate affair that was both literally and figuratively destructive. Their breakup destroyed Spike and drove him to attack Buffy, but she fought back and declared she could never love him.

Devastated, Spike took off for Africa in search of a powerful demon that could help him give the Slayer what's coming to her. Regardless of what he was expecting, Spike didnt really get his wish; instead, the return of his soul.

The newly found soul, and conscience, slowly drove Spike mad.  He returned to Sunnydale, where he lived in the remodelled Sunnydale High.  The day of the grand reopening, Buffy discovered him cowering in the basement.  He was being haunted by the First Evil.  Buffy eventually found out about Spike's soul, and after several months began to truly trust him once more.  He rejoined the Scoobies, and although he and Buffy never actually had another bf/gf relationship, it was obvious that the old sparks were flying.  More than that.  It truly seemed that Buffy was falling in love.

After Buffy was kicked out of her own house by her friends and sister, Spike was there to help her.  He gave her courage and strength that she had long forgotten she had.  After a wonderful evening together, the slayer and the vampire were both worried that it had meant nothing to one another.  After everything was settled, we all had high hopes for the two in the romance department.  But things were cut short once the war was fought against the First Evil and it's minions.  As Spike prepared to give his life to save Buffy, along with everyone else in the world, he got the surprise of his unlife.  Buffy told him how she truly felt about him; She told him that she loved him.

This being all that he had ever really wanted, he was at peace to go.  Although he never believed what she had said about her feelings for him, he didn't care.  It was enough that she had said it.  As Buffy and the others made their escape, Spike stayed behind and, with the help of his soul and an amulet given to him by Angel, was insinerated along with the First's minions.

About a month later, an envelope was mailed to Angel's new branch of Wolfram and Hart.  Upon opening the envelope, the amulet worn by Spike fell out onto the ground.  Before anyone could pick it up, out came our venerated vamp.  For the first couple months, he was a ghostly being who was stuck halfway between our world (Wolfram and Hart, to be exact) and hell.  After opening another envelope received by Wolfram and Hart, he became corporeal once more.  No longer bound to a life of staying in L.A. until he was dragged to hell, Spike at once left to find Buffy, who he knew was somewhere in Europe rounding up potential slayers.

Returning later, he confided in Harmony that showing up at her front step after being assumed dead because he was a hero would just take the romance out of what he had done (giving up his life and all that).  After dealing with a rouge slayer who cut his hands off, Spike was, to a certain degree, humbled.  He no longer felt no regret towards all the people he had murdered.  He was ashamed and worried.  This didn't last long (he wasn't about moping around like Angel was), and in no time he became the vampire of the people, so to speak.  He was out every night helping the helpless, as Angel once was.  What's to come in the future for our beloved blondie, we don't know for sure.  One thing is certain, however: Things between Spike and Angel will never be the same.
