"You know, I can't even comprehend the reason of why I was friends with you, Stephanie," a young man with dark blonde hair and brown eyes scoffed at the girl in front of him as they stand outside of the local mall. "Me, being with a fat, ugly bitch? Yeah, right. My reputation would have been destroyed! Why don't you go and kill yourself so other don't have to suffer when they look at you?"
"Jason-- I-- how could you play me on like that? I don't understand--"
"Let me spell it out for you," Jason interrupted. "I felt sorry for you. I didn't actually think it would last this long, but it did. Truth hurts, don't it?"
"You fucking bastard. What did I ever do to you?" Stephanie whispered, tears in her blue gray eyes. The wind whipped around her golden locks, stinging her face. The words coming out of her supposed friend's mouth was killing her by the minute.
"You were born, that's what you did to me," Jason spat on her tennis shoes. "Now get out of here and don't come near me again."
"I hope you get what's coming for you, Jason Wallace," she lifted a leg and kicked him hard in the groin.
"FUCK!" he moaned, falling to the ground as Stephanie ran home. "You fat cow!"
She finally reached her home, running to the upstairs bathroom. Tears streamed down her face was she cried in hitching gasps, No one had been as cruel to her as Jason had just been. "M-Maybe he's right," she looked into the mirror and was disgusted with herself. "I'm a fat ugly bitch who deserves to die." In reality, she wasn't that at all, but the words Jason bore into her mind kept echoing inside. Her cell phone ringing broke into her thoughts as she answered it.
"Hello?"
"Hey, sweets. It's me."
"Oh, hi, Brian..."
"What's wrong? Are you okay?"
"Just peachy," she sniffed, holding back a sob.
"Steph, tell me the truth."
"The truth? I learned today that the truth was Jason thinks I'm a fat ugly bitch who needs to die so people won't suffer looking at me," the words rushed out o her mouth. "And I'm thinking he's right!"
"The asshole said WHAT?! Stephie, honey, that's not true! Why would you believe what he said?"
"Why not? Brian, I am so sick and tired of people hurting me. Jason wasn't the only person who showed me the light and now I want to end the pain. I want it to stop," she looked in the cabinet and found a large bottle of IB Proufen, which she was extremely allergic to. "It would be the best for everyone."
"No it wouldn't be. We all need you here," Brian replied, quickly texting his cousin Kevin, telling him to head to Stephanie's house right away. AJ had done this before and the guys made an intervention. Now he and Kevin had to do it for Stephanie. He walked out of his house and headed for hers, which was down the street.
"Why? What purpose do I have?" she asked, opening the bottle. Little brown pills scattered on the counter. A strange smile creeped to her face as she imagined the medication as M&M's.
"You have to live your life in order to find out. God will take you when it's your time," Brian replied as he reached her house. He quietly entered and headed upstairs.
"Maybe my purpose is to just suffer. Yeah, that's God's almighty plan," Stephanie answered, taking a large handful as she filled a cup full of water. By now, Brian was at the doorway.
"No, it's not," he said. She jumped at the sound of his voice.
"What the Hell are you doing here?!"
"It's an intervention, honey. We did it with AJ, and now we have to do it for you. Put the pills down, Stephie."
"Don't come any closer or I'll take them! Then it's nighty night for me!" she put the handful by her open mouth.
"Stephanie, I'm begging you! There's too much to live for! You're only 23, there's a whole life ahead of you," Brian walked closer.
"I have NOTHING to live for, Bri-Bri. Jason was right. I need to end my misery before it's too late. Don't blame yourself for this; I love you guys," she slowly began to open her hand to release the pills into her mouth.
"NO!" he shouted, diving at her. They fell onto the floor, pills flying everyone. He held her tightly in his arms as she struggled.
"BRIAN, LET ME GO!"
"I WON'T!"
"LET ME GO, I WANT TO DIE!" Stephanie elbowed him hard in the gut. Brian yelped in pain and let her go. She went for the pills when a pair of strong hands grabbed hers. She looked up into sharp emerald orbs.
"Don't do this, Darling. Please."
"K-Kevin. I... I..." Stephanie broke down into tears, collapsing into his arms. Kevin held her tightly, kissing the top of her head.
"It' okay, Stephie. Shh... shh..." he cooed, running a hand through her hair. By the time she was calmed down, Brian had cleaned up the mess. "Why would you want to do this, Steph?"
"Jason had me convinced that I deserved to die... he had told me so much that pretty soon it sounded like the truth," she looked at her two friends. "I'm sorry about all this... it must have been an inconvience."
"No way," Brian replied, wrapping an arm around her. "You're our friend, and friends always help each other."
"Exactly," both men kissed her forehead.
"Thank you. Thank you both. I learned something about words..."
