At CandyShack Stables we take pride in our facilities and our training program. Every animal has his or her own special needs and we do our very best to ensure they are tended to. Every horse has a stall no smller than 8' x 10' as well as there very own pasture space. The horses are cared for on a continuous basis, and are fed frequently rather than in large amounts. This is easier on there digestive system because it is how they would eat in the wild. Even the water buckets are cleaned and refilled every few hours. At the moment there are five horse stalls in the barn, however renovations will soon be underway to add a sixth, though we don't expect it to be vacant for very long. We are currently undertaking a new breeding program and breaking into the paint horse industry. By breeing to Tobiano Homozygous Stallions, we have the choice of producing palomino paints, chestnut paints or black and white paints. We are currntly considering breeding to an appaloosa stallion to obtain a palomino appaloosa. Our training program is developping very nicely. This summer, our top performance mare "Fancy" will begin training in English Pleasure classes. Our upcoming stars, "Della" and "Solomon" will begin there training, and Lil will be starting her show carrer. But the training does not end there. We've taken on students this summer who will join the crew in learning the ropes. At CandyShack Stables the students learn to be self reliant and responsible, grooming and saddleing the horses themselves before riding and walking them cool afterwords. Students here learn to ride both English and Western and are also taught showmanship. |
