| The Fish Room | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Cleanliness and simplicity is the basis of my fishroom. It had to be easy for me to access all fish, and be "beginner friendly" in case I needed someone else to tend to the fish while I am gone. Below are some pictures of my setup. Please note that it is ever changing, so what you see is most likely not the way everything looks at the time! Pictured below are the finned animals residing in this room. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| 10 gallon glass spawning tank, used to mate selected fish, after the spawning has been complete, it is converted to a growout tank for the first few weeks of the betta fry's life. It is heated by a 25 watt submersible heater, which keeps the tank at a steady 82??*F. Filtration is an Oxygen Plus Biological Sponge Filter. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| The picture to the right shows the tanks, bowls, and jars used to house juvenile bettas as they grow. They are also used for conditioning pairs of bettas and as temporary adult housing. All bowls and tanks are given a 100% water change twice a week, and thus filtration is not needed. Once a month all bowls/jars/tanks are scrubbed down and bleached to remove any dense buildup. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Pictured to the left are individual tanks and bowls ranging from 1-5 gallons that accomodate the adult bettas. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| This is my largest tank, Eclipse 3 stage filtration, and a 150 watt submersible filter. It currently houses a Tiger Oscar and a Common Plecostomous. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| To the left is my 5 gallon dwarf seahorse tank. It is the newest tank I have started, and my first saltwater tank. It is equipped with a full flourescent hood, a 25 watt submersible heater, several fake plants, as well as a Whisper Power Filter. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| A 1 gallon kritter keeper tank is home to three Neon Tetras that through thick and thin have come to make it. They were originally in a community freshwater tank, and all of the other fish didn't make it except for these 3 guys. A 50% water change is done weekly and keeps their tank nice and tidy for their likings. | |||||||||||||||||||||
