Any gift you make will make a difference. The Ohio Bird Sanctuary is a small, private, non-profit organization that does not receive governmental funding. You can see your dollars at work in an organization of our size. A gift of $25 will feed a young owl until it can be returned to the wild, a gift of $50 will host a child at Nature camp, a gift of $1,000 will feed one of our educational birds for a year.

Thank you for taking the time to consider the Ohio Bird Sanctuary as part of your charitable giving. You may designate your gift to the general fund or for the purchase of an item from our wish list.

A donation to the general fund provides operating funds to expand our programs, purchase supplies for the treatment of injured wildlife, and maintain our facility and equipment. We also invite you to support a specific project - interpretive plaques for the bird of prey - plants and flowers for the the Butterfly Garden or Meadow - or a snow blower to help keep walks cleared. Generous contributions from previous years have included benches for the Songbird Aviary, housing for our Kestrels and Screech-Owls, medical supplies, a van to transport education birds to schools, spotting scope to monitor eagle nesting sites, and office equipment.

An Endowment Fund for the Ohio Bird Sanctuary has been established at the Richland County Foundation. The Foundation has approved a challenge grant of $50,000 to match $1 for every $10 contributed to the Ohio Bird Sanctuary Endowment Fund.

Importance of Endowment

The Ohio Bird Sanctuary is a not for profit, 501(c)3 organization. The Sanctuary does not receive funding through county, state or federal tax dollars. The Sanctuary is supported through donations, memberships, program fees, grants and in-kind services by the community.

The Sanctuary has funded all of its operations and buildings through public donations, grants and a dedicated volunteer workforce. These resources supported the early development of the Sanctuary, but are not adequate for ourneeds as we expand and grow to serve the community. By establishing an endowment fund of $850,000, the Sanctuary hopes to assure that all of its basic operational needs can be met through the reliable, predictable source of income generated by the endowment principle.

The Ohio Bird Sanctuary Endowment Fund will assure that the Sanctuary, with all of its excellent programs and activities, will continue to thrive and grow in North Central Ohio providing enjoyment for future generations.
