On July 7th 1940 Richard Starkey was born. Ringo's parents, Elisie Gleave and his father Richard Starkey. Later on Ringo's parents split up. As a child Ringo went in and out of Hospitals. His first experiance was when his appendix berst. He went to Myrtle Street Childrens Hospital and had 2 opperations.He was in the hospital for more than 12 mounths. He went to St Silas for schooling.
As a teenager he started getting involved in the skiffle craze. He later joined a band called Rory Storm. They were a band in Liverpool along with the Quarry Men. The Quarry Men had seen Ringo play a few times with Rory Stom. After seeing him the wanted him instead of Pete Best. Later on the Quarry Men asked Ringo to join it took awhile but it eventually happened and Pete Best was fired. While in the Rory Storm he got the name Ringo from his rings. In 1962 he becasme a member of The Beatles.
As a beatle Ringo wrote a few songs but not that many. Ringo spent about 8 years as a fab four but they broke up in 1970. Ringo continued on with a solo career. He later made a band called Ringo Starr and his All Star Band. Now Ringo is 60 years old and hes still touring with his All Starr Band! |
