Chapter 10

After deliberating considerably about whether to go into the Dali Art
Gallery, we decided against it and wondered off, slightly annoyed and
thinking that there would be more to do in Hereford. However George's ever
trustworthy A-Z brought us to Westminster Bridge, where we looked out at
Canary Wharf Tower,  St Pauls, Nat West Bank Tower etc. Emma was slightly
annoyed that George didn't approve of her idea to walk around London without
using the A-Z but later agreed that it would have been crazy. London is very
different to Hereford, George pointed out. Having bought mineral water in a
shop near to Whitehall, we walked towards Downing Street. Emma came up with
No1 Most Boring Idea of The Century: "Lets wait here and see if we see any
politicians!" Needless to say, we didn't, and happily singing "Anne Widdecom,
Anne Widdecom" we ran down towards the Horseguard. Emma was frightened by the
horses so we ran towards St James' Park, where we found some even more crazy
pelicans. Edd was amazed but George was bored- the pelicans were probably
plastic. How could any animal survive in London?
Next we made our way to Buckingham Palace. Standing in front of The Palace
of Greatness, we watched a load of irrelevant horses march past and as we
were about to go, Mogoot pointed and said aloud " Is that the Palace?"...
Next we ran off down the "Never Ending Road" or infinite boringness. It was
somewhat confusing, but we made our way to the Picaddily Circus area, and
then Mogoot said that he hadn't wanted to come here at all. Moron.
So we set off towards Trafalger Square. In the daylight the water fountains
looked disgusting- all the dirt of London was visible, along with the remains
of pigeons, etc. However Emma paddled happily. At this point she decided to
go and look for shoelaces- having ripped them out of her trainers in Disney
and eaten them, or lost them or whatever!!!
After leaving Trafalger Square, we set off towards Covent Gardens, Edd
almost getting run over as he talked to Saz and tried to cross the road at
the same time. Halfway along the Strand we found a hilarious sandwich bar,
and Emma went mad upon seeing that they sold "Snapples" (soft drinks,
slightly crazy). We all bought sandwiches and agreed that this place was
cheap, even for the centre of Londonium.
After reaching CoventGardens, we sat down on the filthy kerb and ate our
lunch. Suddenly George ran off in the direction of the market, never to
return (?) but was later met up by the others. George bought some very nice
presents for her family. Emma bought (unintentially) some very offensive
postcards, and later swapped them, for very fake "Romeo and Julia" cards.
George then spent ages in her most Loved Place of All- the Quiksilver shop.
Strictly for surfers only! After 3 millenia she walked out with a smart
"Roxy" top. A slight panic as to where the f****** hell she was, but
eventually all met up, happy as ever. Emma bought a year's supply of Snapples
and we all walked, slowly, back towards Waterloo bridge.
Returning to Cleopatra's Needle on Victoria Embankment, we sat down for a
rest. George had another arguement with Mogoot, but decided that she couldn't
be bothered...
