This page is to inform members of the community that we live in on what neighborhood watch is, and to help others that are interested in starting up a neighborhood watch in their area.  If at any time you have any questions or need help with anything, please feel free to email Stacey at [email protected]
Please note that this site is under construction...and any suggestions are greatly welcomed!

WHAT IS NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH? Neighborhood Watch is an organization of people in their communtities and local law enforcement that are taking a proactive stand on crime in their neighborhoods.

WHO CAN BE INVOLVED IN N.W.? Any citizen of a group of people can belong to Neighborhood Watch.  In our community it is open city wide, with blocks of the city represented.  We do have all four quadrants of our city represented in our Neighborhood Watch Program.  Our group is about trying to prevent crimes and to let others know that we will not stand for crimes in our community.  It is NOT about vigilantism or trying solve these crimes on our own.  It is only through being proactive in preventing them, and working closely with our police officers that we can have such a group.

GETTING STARTED: Our group got started with calling our local police department to get a hold of our crime prevention officer.  We then set out to distribute fliers in and around the area I live in and set up a time for all to meet and disduss problems within our small community and in our city as a whole.  We kept all meetings open to the public, and try to publicize our meeting times as well as we can.
WHEN DOES YOUR GROUP MEET
?  Our group meets the third Thursday of the Odd Months at St. Paul's Luthran Church at 6pm.  Your group can meet as often as you need, and where ever you have room for the amount of people that you are including.  Home meetings are fine as well.

cOMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
:  Your group can be involved in your communities as much or as little as your group see's fit.  I do suggest the more involvement, the more sucessful your program is as a whole.  Our group participates in an Earth Day clean up, our county fair with a booth that has a new crime prevention topic each year, National Night Out, and finally a Child Safety Day right before Halloween.  We do work with other groups on some of these projects, such as the Healthy Kids Healthy Community group and very closely with our local police department.  We also have been able to sell WINKERS, which are small flashing lights with our groups logo on them.  The sale of these was made possible from donations from the American Legion, VFW, and Eagles clubs.  Without their help this could not be possible!  We do thank them as well!
