This is my first custom clay figure like this. I've done others, but not in this much detail or with colored clays. I painted the others, and I only did a few of them. When I got into working with clay, in August of this year, I hadn't seen what could really be done with it. Surfing the internet I found many websites about polymer clay and saw what others were doing with it. It gave me the idea, so I have been hooked ever since.
This figure is of my Dad, Rodney. He was my test dummy. He e-mailed me a few pictures, I printed them out, and got started. I had a lot of fun making this figure. Rodney is an avid hiker and photographer. He's constantly taking pictures and it's part of what he does for a living.
He is meant to look cartoonish in representation. He isn't really proportioned correctly, but that was part of the caricature. It is similar to a cartoon caricature drawing, only 3-D. Customers are welcome to choose between having a more cartoon & caricature look, like Rodney, or a more proportioned look.
