Cold and ruthless, he took down any adversary he could find, even if they didn't want to fight, or weren't any good. Because of his reputation, he didn't have many friends. Only one of his buddies remained true, and that was Jiraku, a stone-type Cyroid. The two often trained together, though Haaiku won every battle. However, this winning streak was about to change.
One day, during an intense duel, Jiraku decided to use his secret weapon. After training alone for hour after exhausting hour, he had learned to raise exeptionally large chunks of ground into the air, and transform them into rock-hard boulders--deadly if they hit anyone dead-on. Tired of losing constantly, the rock Cyroid used this technique, and slammed the boulder on top of Haaiku's skull, pounding him into the ground like a living nail. Though he was strong and wicked on the inside, the violet-haired demon was fragile on the outside. His head split open, and fragments of the rock damaged his brain.
After Jiraku discovered this fatal error, he ran over to his friend, and dug him up. He quickly ran him to the hospital, and prayed that he would be alright. At first, the doctors told him that Haaiku would never survive these injuries, but three days passed, and his friend began to rapidly recover. He had not regained consciousness, but his breathing had grown steadier, and he showed signs of beginning to come to. One day, a nurse called Jiraku, and told him that Haaiku had actually woken up.
The rock Cyroid rushed to the hospital as fast as he could, excited upon seeing his friend again. Though when he spoke to Haaiku, he got a very shaking surprise. The first words out of Haaiku's mouth were: "Who are you?"
Jiraku was paralyzed. His old battling partner didn't even remember who he was! Though stunned, he managed to swallow his fear, and speak. "Haaiku, I am Jiraku, remember? We were battling, and I hurt you badly. I'm so sorry, Haaiku!" Tears poured from his eyes; tears of regret.
The nurse said that Haaiku needed minor surgery, and then he'd be right back on his feet. "But be warned," she said, "he will have frequent memory losses. Also, he might not remember some things that happened in his past." Jiraku nodded, still trying to hold back his sadness. I can't believe I did this to my best friend, he thought, as he walked home.
Finally, the surgery came to pass, and Haaiku got right out of his bed. He met Jiraku at the park one day, and the rock Cyroid could hardly believe the changes his friend had endured. Haaiku's voice had changed--it had grown almost immaturely light--he had nearly forgotten his partner once more, and he couldn't remember where he was several times, but he still managed to smile and say, "The nurses in that hospital were pretty."
Later on, Haaiku was transported to the human world, and paired up with Shimiya. At that time, his memories and intelligence were restored, but after a few months in the Cyberu world, his mental problems returned. That was when he met Sunuru and Keyki. He and the girl's little brother became best of friends, and even agreed to be brothers. He refers to Keyki as "Texas, London and Paris."
Keyki loves his "brother", but knows that deep inside the charming little Haaiku's heart, an evil flame still burns, ready to turn into a raging fire.
