Driving Across Texas 782 miles, 12 hours, 3 gas stops, 2 potty stops and Taco Bell in Amarillo. Did you know the speed limit in Texas is 70, 75 in Colorado, but a mere 65 in New Mexico? Go figger...

Spent the night in Pueblo, CO, a HOPPIN' joint if ever there was one. They have a nice WalMart there. Next day I drove up to Royal Gorge...Now that is a place that doesn't NEED any hopping! WOW. Took the tram across, then walked back

DENVER I arrived in Golden on Thursday the 19th. Cece and her husband and baby were there. We had lunch with Laurie Elms and Kelly Doane on Friday. That night was the cocktail party for our 20 year high school reunion at a bar called Brooklyns, which used to be known as THIRSTY'S and boy do me and Cece have stories of drunken debauchery at THAT fine establishment...
Saturday morning, a few of the elite from choir and theatre met up at a park, spouses and offspring (for SOME) in tow. Stephen brought yearbooks and we had a blast catching up, reminiscing and gossiping about how everyone looked the night before.
Saturday Night's Alright - and it really was! The Shin Dig was Fun, tho the dinner was GROSS. Good story...I was with a couple friends and I grabbed this guy's arm and said, "I don't know who you are, but will you take our picture?" Then I noticed his nametag, and I said, blushing, "Oh YES I do..." I'd had a crush on him for years and never even SPOKE to him before! I told one of the girls and she said she was gonna tell him...I grabbed the camera, stuttered my thanks and RAN back to the table. I told Cece the story and THEN I notice - he is sitting at the table NEXT to us, and NO I had not whispered the story to her...I am sure he heard...LOLOL. I am still blushing!

After the Reunion, I met up with a cool guy I met on line. Me and Mike had chatted a few times, and we realized he grew up near where I did - his cousin was one of our Homecoming Queens, and strangest of all...he had looked at our old house last year when he was renting a place...It was the only house in the area with a pool, and metallic safari print wallpaper in the bathroom! Small world Here is his web site, Renaissance Advenure Guides, if you have a taste for adventure...
POST REUNION I stayed in Denver a couple of days and saw the Bassett's, who used to be little girls I BABYSAT and who are now MARRIED, as well as a friend of my parents, Orlyn. I spent some time in Boulder, wandering around campus, poked my head in the radio station where I worked, and sneaked into my freshman year dorm. When I left in 1982, I had signed the inside of my closet...As the dorm had just been painted, I again signed my name....in the closet, same place....heh heh. I stayed at the youth hostel and enjoyed some quiet mornings in a town that has gotten MORE EXPENSIVE THAN NYC, if you can believe THAT...sigh. Had dinner one night with a former teacher and her kids, also who I used to babysit; and spent one day up in Nederland hiking.. I sure miss Boulder!
All Good Things Come With a Price As part of the deal for letting me go on this adventure, I had agreed to attend the U/RTA board meeting in Bloomington, IL. Now THAT was strange...having to be somewhere at a set time, having to brush my hair and wear CLEAN clothes!! Then, since U/RTA wanted me to attend another conference the NEXT weekend as well, I took the train to Grand Rapids to see Erin, Phil and the kids.
On Aug 2, me and Erin took the train back to Chicago and stayed at the Palmer House while I attended the Association of Theatre in Higher Education conference (YAWN). I hosted two panel discussion and had to wear shoes every day...the THINGS I DO for this Company!!! it was TORTURE!! But I had my sissy with me and we ate like gluttons....Cheesecake Factory, Pizzeria Uno and Rainforest Cafe. We also went to the top of the Hancock Observatory.

My crazy Aunt Sue passed away on Saturday July 28th. She was an artist, a tap dancer, a clown, a loving free spirit who will be missed by all. She bought me my first black velvet dress
the adventure continues on the next page
Rose, Jordan and Sam are growing up well adjusted, normal kids despite living in Michigan. Rose is bull headed, beautiful and determined. Jordan is sweet, smart, loving, with eyes that would melt stone and Sam is wise, funny, artistic, and cute as heck..Sure love them!
