You were the sunshine on a cloudy day,

Your whistle woke me, in the happiest way.

To see you hold your head up high

Makes it so hard to say good-bye.

To have had this time to spend with you,

Leaves many memories for my whole life through.

To say your life was much too short,

Would trivialize the quality part.

For what is life without an end,

We all must part with our good friends.

The greater life begins in the hereafter,

When we renew our bonds and laughter.
