A Total Force
Go Back
Becoming a Marine will provide you with a level of discipline, decision-making skill, and confidence few others will possess. And while in the Corps, the most important job you will have is that of Marine. But every Marine has a more specific function, called a Military Occupational Specialty, or MOS. Your MOS will fall into one of five categories, which work seamlessly together to provide a TOTAL FORCE. TOTAL FORCE means that every facet of the Marine Corps works together as a single, dynamic unit, and it allows the Marine Corps to call on any combination of specialties to complete the mission at hand.

Remember, a Marine is who you are a MOS is what you are trained to do while you serve in the Corps.

Marine occupational categories include:
Enlisted Aviation
Combat Arms
Combat Service Support
Computers/ Communications/ Intelligence/ Electronics
Marine Reserve
