No Child Left Behind Technology Grant
The Eloy Elementary District has received a
$160,000 No Child Left Behind technology grant for the 2004 – 2005
school year. As part of the grant, Eloy Jr. High School will be
connected by microwave dish to Central Arizona College and five other
schools in partnership with the Pinal County Interactive Television
(ITV) Consortium.
Interactive Television uses two-way, real-time
television to link two or more sites. Teachers and administrators from
Eloy Elementary District, Santa Cruz Valley Union High School
District, Casa Grande Union High School District, Florence
Unified District, and Maricopa Unified District will
participate in twenty-eight hours of training and lesson plan
development to learn how to access and use the ITV system.
The system has tested up to a seven site
connection, using Central Arizona College as the bridge to link the
sites. World-wide video conferencing will be available to the teachers
and students through the ITV system.
Central Arizona Valley Institute of Technology will
act as fiscal agent for the grant. Jill Dingman, ITV Grant Coordinator,
was hired in September to manage the grant and organize the professional
development activities.
