Chapter 6
"Claire, look I have to tell you something. I'm sorry I haven't been much help. I've been getting fairly wrapped into drugs,"Sydney said.
Claire didn't say anything.
"Claire.."Sydney said.
"Well, I didn't expect you to forget your life, it's alright..just please..not around James,"Claire said.
"OK! and I will help out more. I will!" Sydney said.
"Julia!"he girls said together and laughed
The week passed and, true to her word, Sydney started helping out again. That Saturday night as Claire was putting James to sleep, some one walked into the dark room.
"Sydney?"Claire asked.
"No! Guess again,"a male's voice said.
"Paul!!!"Claire said as she lept up and ran to Paul and gave him a kiss.
"Told you we were coming back for a day! OK, Sydney's calling a sitter, I saw her in the hall, so we're all going to dinner! But first I want to see James,"Paul said.
They walked over to the crib where the baby was lying.
"He's not asleep yet. He does have my eyes"Paul said, Claire laughed.
"Yeah which is good because I love your eyes. I just laid him down to sleep. He has to be rocked and sung to. You can do that while I go get dressed," Claire said.
"Ok,"Paul said.
He gave Claire another kiss, and sat down in the chair next to the crib.
"ummmm...rock a by baby, on the tree top,"he sang quietly.
Meanwhile downstairs...
"Yes, Natalie...can you baby sit tonight?...yes sorry it is late notice...No not all of them, just James...yes..thank you! bye" Sydney said into the phone,
"Hello there, beautiful!"Came a voice from behind Sydney.
"George! Paul said you had gone to our house!" Sydney said as she wheeled around.
She ran over to him and gave him a kiss.
"We wanted you to be suprised also! How are you? How's Claire? How's everything?" George asked.
Sydney thought about telling him about the drugs, but decided not to.
"Everything's great!"she said."I'm so happy to see you again. How are all of you? How are the tours going?"
"Well, Paul's been mad at Brian, so Brian's been cranky to us all. The tours are strenous. We all want them to be over. John's getting fed up, so not too good,"George said.
Just then Claire and Paul walked in.
"Ready?"Paul asled.
"Yes,"George said.
As soon as the babysitter got there, they all got into the car and drove to John's where Ringo, Mo, and Cyn were. Then they went to dinner.
"After dinner I want to see James," John said.
"He's cute as a button," Sydney said.
"How's Julian?"Ringo asked.
"He's good. He's starting kindergarden this fall,"Cyn said.
"Is he five already?"Claire and Sydney asked in unison.
"Ahhhh get off my brain wave,"Claire said.
They both laughed.
"He will be in October,"Cyn said.
"Ohh how time flys!" Ringo said laughing.
"Umm...I have something I want to get off my chest" Sydney said.
"Your shirt?" George asked.
"Not yet...I need to tell you guys something" she said.
Everyone got quiet and looked over at her.
"I didn't mean for this to happen, it just kinda did. After you guys left, I went to a lot of parties, and there were bad things at these parties. At first I thought drugs were just wrong, but I tried them. And I really liked them. I've tried pretty much all the drugs that there are. My personal favorite is L.S.D but we won't get into that. That's why I wasn't helping Claire as much as I should of. I was so wrapped up in the drugs, I couldn't help myself" Sydney said.
"Oh my god..." Cyn said trailing off.
"That's it?" John asked.
"Yeah, you had me scared for a second, but if that's all..."Paul said
"But that's a big deal!" Mo protested.
"Paul, she must not be too happy about this, or she wouldn't have told us. Let's be a little bit sympathtic" Claire said.
"No I'm not unhappy about this. I just told so you'd know" Sydney said.
"I mean, it's not like she'll kill herself doing this" John said.
"Right, it's just something for fun" Sydney said smiling "And besides it's not really that bad."
"You're not going to do this....around the kids?" Cyn asked, worried.
"Of course! I would never do anything harmful around the kids. I'm shocked you would think I would" Sydney said.
"Sorry, I was just making sure. I mean I have only heard bad things about drugs. I've never tried them and I never want to" Cyn said.
