BCT Day 10

August 3rd, 2002

No mail call last night. We had mail call today, but our platoon's box was empty. ??? I don't know how mail works around here, but it's a fucked up system. D.S. says there should be a large amount of mail on Monday. We'll see.

I had kitchen police. I sorted trays, glasses, bowls, and silverware for a total of about four hours. Two for breakfast and two for dinner. I lucked out because we had bag lunches, so no kitchen staff was needed for that. I spent lots more hours cleaning the kitchen and gulping down all the chocolate milk I could stand. The bad part is that I was working with seven other people while everybody else got to go to a fun ass obstacle course.

Tonight, we found out that my platoon(Mad Dogs) won. We were happy as shit. We beat three other platoons and we don't work half as hard as the others. We haven't done any PT this whole week. We did it today for 10 minutes. Wow. What pushes us is our motivation. We're always saying "MAD DOGS, WOOF WOOF" and the other platoons look at us like we're crazy. They must be jealous because they get the shit worked out of them yet we STILL beat everybody in something physical. I wasn't there, but we'll go back to the same course twice more.

I miss you people. I want to go clubbin so bad, or at least listen to trance. I miss being able to sleep whenever I damn well please. Oh well. You make your own choices. It's cool though.

Basic training's easy as shit, and it's supposed to get easier after the first 3 weeks. One and a half weeks to go, and then it's rifles rifles rifles. No more boring classes, no more drill sergeants on us 24/7, PHONE PRIVILEGES, and more freedom overall. After the second 2 weeks, it gets even easier. The D.S. goes home early and leaves us the fuck alone. I'm in the writing mood, obviously. Man, there better be at least 3 letters for me on Monday.

Wearing wet undies sucks, but at least they're clean. Stupid broken dryer and stupid slow laundry service which I paid $106 for. Grrrr. It takes 2-3 days to get your clothes back and I never count my underwear supply right. Oh well. Like I said before: they're brown for a reason.

Oh. We got to watch some of "Saving Private Ryan." DSs are getting more lenient already. But still, my platoon gets no phone privileges and no letters. We also don't have access to news. Grrr. Northern VA could have fell off and I wouldn't know. I wonder if you all are still alive. Damn, this sucks.

Cendy, do you type this at the same time you read it? It's a lot of typing to be doing after you've already read it.

Ah fuck. It's lights out. I will stop B4 I go blinder.
