Ashish P Raj, son of P Jayarajan, CPM MLA has been injured on 16th April, when bomb exploded in his hands! Both his hands have been now operated. Using the LDF ministry's influence, now attempt has been made to classify this as a firecracker accident! But Vishu fireworks are done on 13th or 14th and not on 17th April! CPM MLA and the Goonda Home MInister have been re-enacting the goonda-vilyattam of former EMS ministry of 1967-69.

Pre-Election News

Though hailed as the cultural capital of Kerala, our government gods at Trivandrum, our parties like UDF and LDF have been ignoring and misusing Trichur for all these years. Most notable example is the imoprted candidates, Trichur has been fielding in almost all Lok Sabha elections in recent times.

This year is not an exception. PC Chacko who has no connection to the city or the district at all, has canvassed in Delhi to get the seat. AK Antony has influenced Sonia to award this seat to Chacko. Also there was lobbying by the Catholic Church. We have great respect for the Church and their leaders, but also respect their right to support any candidate. But that support should come only after the parties decide their candidates, not before!!

In a multi-religious state like Kerala, it will be nice that the elections are fought on a non-communal basis! This site will oppose Mr Chacko's candidacy! He just doesn't belong here! More will apppear here in the coming days!

CPI Fields CN Jayadevan

CN Jayadevan, Thrissur district secretary and state council member would be the candidate from Thrissur constituency. Though the name of CK Chandrappan, the present MP was considered till the last moment the state committee and state council stood firm behind Mr Jayadevan.

"SaveTrichur" forum firmly supports CN Jayadevan crossing all party lines. It's time Trichur has our own candidate, who stands for the district. Several eerkily parties in the Travancore area have been playing this "loyalty-to-just one constituency" game forgetting the whole state and getting disproportionate representation in the ministry and Assembly.

Trichur district has been always the scapegoat - ignored by both UDF and LDF. Trichur's powerful leaders were pushed behind and expelled from the district by vested interests all the time. Most notable example is VM Sudheeran, who was cleverly sent out of Trichur by the cunning manipulations of K Karunakaran, AK Antony and Oomen Chandy! We would have remained neutral if the current contest had been Jayadevan vs Sudheeran or Jayadevan vs Tom Vadakkan.

Mr Jayadevan had been earlier MLA from Ollur and has a clean record in his public career. Coming from an ordinary family, Mr Jayadevan never lost touch with the ground and the people who supported him. We feel he is the right candidate for Trichur after a long time. Recall that in the last election both candidates (AC Jose of Cong and CK Chandrappan of CPI) were imported from outside the district.
