A person has direct control of his or her feelings, the actions he or she takes. So, of course, if that person reveals his or her longing for a certain other party in the absence of that party, that party exercises his or her individual rights in responding -- -- even in requesting that the longing-feelings be stopped. In that request, the other party is not at all being unfair.
A common misconception arises from ideas of the locations of a pair of romantic-love partners. By promoting that misconception, the misguided advisors ascertain that the distance between the partners must be minimized as often as possible for the long-term success in that relationship. Who is an advisor to say what must be done for the best of that relationship? An innocent party, for a set mount of time, can be lodged in jail for months and years at a time and be certain his partner awaits his release, especially if even a minor amoun of communication has been maintained. Or, partners can be encouraged to live, work, and play at great distances because each partner's position in society temporarily (months or even years) separates them. In this case, neither the living, working, or playing, or the relationship, must be destroyed. ...Named after the first reader of a version of this paragraph of text, this is "Heidi's Statement".
But what can destroy a relationship or potential relationship are words, regardless of distance, even at close range. Third-party slanderings, gossipings, lying are deathly: unnecessary protection of a fearful victim is one result. Consider the mall- security summoning to a caring papernote-writer who walked in that mall. ...What set the emotional stage of such a summoning? Words -- -- vague words to scare nearly any innocent party -- -- words such as "stalking, harassing, watching", repeated to innocent "victims." Who said those words originally? Consider the source: no need of vague statements in describing them: they are and were thieves, extortioners, chronic liars. Who were they to scare the associates and friends of the papernote-carrying mall walker with vague-sounding evasions, deceptions, and distortions?
