Resolution 1655(31 January 2006) -- Recalling Israel’s withdrawal, and that UN Interim Force (UNIFIL) has completed 2/3 of its mandate, and UN Security Council Resolutions 1308 and 1325, but gravely concerned at the continuing violence at the Blue Line, including rockets fired by Hizbullah. Thus responding to request from the Lebanon government, the Security Council decides to extend the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon mandate 6 months, reiterates its support for the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Lebanon, and supports the government reasserting its authority over the area.
