STUDY GUIDES TAKE CENTER STAGE
Washington D.C. - August 30, 2005. As new Study Guides are added to the ILRC Website, and all the Study Guides are linked to each other at relevant points, the Study Guide takes center stage as the key teaching tool for teaching about this extremely complex and technical subject. Study Guides are designed to outline and summarize each topic area, and serve as a guide to the essays and databases that also cover each topic. Then, serving as important supplements to the Study Guides, the essays hope to provide more in-depth information on each topic (such as historic detail and the human side to the topic), while the databases hope to provide raw data. The Website databases are enhanced by a Central Index of Keywords which hopes to serve the user by providing one-stop sorting across all 8 databases on each keyword. The Website divides the subject matter into eight main topics - (1) Emergency Regulations, (2) Israeli Laws, (3) Israeli Military Orders, (4) Israeli Supreme Court rulings, (5) Miscellaneous Historic Documents, (6) International Laws, (7) United Nations Resolutions, and (8) Publications (many of which will be for sale or freely distributed by ILRC). The Website then covers those topics with 3 major teaching tools - the Study Guides, the Essays, and the Databases. Important sub-topics also found in the Website are Study Guides, etc. covering the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice on the separation wall Israel is building throughout the West Bank, and public education materials on this subject being designed with allied organizations. |
------------ FIRST STAGE OF KEYWORD CENTRAL INDEX ADDED TO ILRC WEBSITE Washington D.C. - April 1, 2005. The ILRC Website Team adds to the Website the first stage of an Index of Keywords which soon will be linked directly to the Website databases for automatic sorting. This feature does not preclude sorting in the databases with a keyword developed by the user. The idea of this Keyword Index is to give the user a view-at-a-glance of the full range of topics covered by the Website databases. The Website databases and its Keyword Index will be one of the trio of teaching tools that form the core strategy of the Website whose purpose is to provide accurate and thorough information on civil rights and human rights in the legal system of the State of Israel to both professionals and laypersons. The other two tools are the Interactive Study Guide and the supportive articles. PUBLIC EDUCATON FLYERS DEVELOPED WITH ALLIED ORGANIZATIONS WASHINGTON D.C. - Two important grassroots organizations supportive of the Palestinian
struggle for freedom from Israeli oppression have cooperated with the
editorial staff of the IRLC to develop flyers educating the public about
the discriminatory laws of the State of Israel.
SUSTAIN (Stop U.S. Tax Aid to Israel Now), a national organization with 12 chapters nationwide, has created a double-sided flyer to give out at teach-ins and street demonstrations which are the main activities of this organization. The flyer can be seen on their national website found at www.sustaincampaign.org in the section called "Presentation Materials". The other flyer was developed with the DC Palestine-Solidarity Coalition, which is a Washington D.C. area coalition of about ten pro-Palestinian groups, some of which are local and some of which are national. Their website can be found at www.dcpalestine.org under a section called 'handouts'. Their website also contains a unique automated calendar feature which allows member-groups to upload notices of their events and then automatically generates regular emails containing the calendar which it then sends to people and organizations throughout the region. These flyers can also be found on our website in our 'Public Education' section.

NON-VIOLENCE INTERNATIONAL BECOMES FISCAL SPONSOR
WASHINGTON D.C. - June 1, 2004 - Non-Violence International (NVI) agrees to provide fiscal sponsorship services to Israel Law Resource Center. To quote from their website, "Nonviolence International (NVI) assists individuals, organizations, and governments striving to utilize nonviolent methods to bring about changes reflecting the values of justice and human development on personal, social, economic, and political levels. " "NVI is committed to educating the public about nonviolent action and to reducing the use of violence worldwide. We believe that every cultural and religious tradition can discover and employ culturally appropriate nonviolent methods for positive social change and international peace." Fiscal sponsorship mainly involves allowing contributors to the client organization (ILRC) to make donations through the fiscal sponsor (NVI) so that they get tax benefits because of the fiscal sponsor's 501(c)3 status with the Internal Revenue Service. Thus, those wishing to make donations to ILRC may do so by sending checks made payable to "Non-Violence International", but listing "Israel Law Resource Center" in the memo line, to:.
