| Winnipeg Free Press Wednesday, March 19, 2003 City & Region Around the City Group raises $101,000 THE Save Our Seine group has raised $101,000 toward the purchase of the Bois des Esprits�a pristine 81-acre forest for hiking and canoeing along the Seine River between Bishop Grandin Boulevard and Warde Avenue. The group is trying to raise $1 million by the end of the year to help the city purchase and preserve the land adjacent to the 760-home subdivision Royalwood. The forest includes an aspen grove and heritage tree candidates, including a 90-foot cottonwood. The old river oxbows are home to a range of species including blue herons, whitetail deer, beavers and turtles.
