| Seine River Interpretive Canoe Guide by Marcel Richot SOS has made application for funds to develop and interpretive map of the segment of the Seine River from the south Floodway to the fork of the Red River and the Seine. Internationally acclaimed artist / historian / mapmaker Real Berard, we are happy to report, has agreed to take on this project. Many of you may be familiar with the canoe maps which Real Berard researched and sketched as a professional map maker for the Manitoba Dept. for Natural Resources. These maps are more than a canoe guide, but also a document of the human history, and the flora and fauna of the region. Canoe enthusiasts from all over North America and Europe, use these maps as their primary source of the river information and local history. An interpretive map of this beautiful little river, would be an invaluable educational asset for the present and future generations, for in the minds and hearts of the young people inheriting the legacy of a healthy Seine River corridor, discovering its water may provide a life-long respect and enjoyment of nature and our heritage. To know this river, is to fall in love with it. To love this river, is to ultimately become responsible for it... It is the price of love, and maybe the root of true (Note: SOS has not yet published this map. Would you like to volunteer to help make it a reality?) |
