| Rally at City Hall A new coalition has formed on the west, or rather, left side of the Seine River. The Left Bank Residents Association, residents of homes and condos in Dakota Crossing and River Park South affected by the proposed Southglen Bridge, met at Vic Wyatt last week and found common ground. Save Our Seine supports their efforts to organize and to make their voices heard. On Monday, June 17th, 2002 they will stage an informational picket at 4PM at Ground Zero, the corner of Southglen and St. Anne's Rd. They have also organized a much larger event, a rally, at City Hall on Main Street. It will take place on Wednesday, June 19 at 10:30 AM. Councillor Steeves has been invited to address the crowd. A sunny day is guaranteed. Come and meet fellow property owners opposed to the proposed shortcut to St. Vital Centre, the Southglen Bridge. After a long council meeting Councillor Steeves, after giving an impassioned speech in support for the park, spoke to the gathered citizens. Councillor Vandal was "away on official city business." Councillor Angus is not opposed to the park. Councillor de Smets cast the only dissenting vote. |
