| Field of Dreams Greening June 2002 On April 29 the Marlene Street Tenants Association launched their campaign to restore the old St. Vital Municipal dump that abuts the Seine River and turn it into new green space for the Riel Community. Save Our Seine is happy to support them in this project, the Field of Dreams. Our annual Greening will therefore take place at the end of the open field that lies at the corner of Beliveau and Marlene Street in St. Vital. It will take place between 10 AM and 2 PM on Saturday, June 1. (Rain day - June 2). Please attend and help us plant over 1,500 young seedlings. This is a small step, but one we hope bodes well for the project. The city dump was abandoned over a generation ago. We can bring it back! Initial plans include a walking path, shade trees and green grass. (The final concept has yet to be determined.) Come and meet SOS, local Green Teams, local Guides and Scouts, Gord Steeves , Daniel Vandal and Nancy Allan (invited), and the people of Marlene Street. Bring a shovel and a lunch.
