1999 Trail Report by Bob Tinker

This summer our crew extended the trail south from Cabana along another beautiful section of the Seine to the St. Boniface Development property at the north end of Youville. Other parts of the trail between Provencher and Cabana were improved and a safety barrier was installed in areas that the city felt necessary.

The trail committee is investigating ways of re-working the canoe launch to make it wheelchair accessible and generally more functional. Planning for a bridge continues and hope to have preliminary designs soon.

Negotiations with CN to cross under the rail bridge continue at a snail's pace. In addition to the protective structure mentioned in the last newsletter, the rail way may require extensive chain link fence to limit public access to the rail right of way and bridge.

Hopefully all these issues will be addressed soon. In the mean time come out to the Clean Up and enjoy what we've done so far. Its great.
