Let me start by saying if I were Benson I would keep sucking what was
promised to me from the state. With the Super Dome being state property and being the sticking point here are some ideas.
I would not care for a outdoor stadium, but it might be the cities only way to keep the Saints.
I'm sure the city of N.O. has some land they can build on around the French Quarter. I'd like to see the city officials take this plan under their wings and make a go of it. I have been against new taxes for the visitors but could stand to pay my share.
So I say we add another 1.5 percent hotel tax. Add a .50 cent taxi cabi fee to the top of the fare. Add 2 percent rental car tax. Add a .5 percent sewage tax.
Add an extra .10 cents to the trolly and bus fares. Add .5 percent sales tax on french quarter sales. Add 5 cent tax to all vending machine sales. Add $2.00 sales tax on game tickets. Add 25 cents on each hotdog, burger, coke and cotton candy. Add 50 cents to each watered down beer.
Should I go on?
Just Do It New Orleans...
You could have the Cadillac of all stadiums.
Hell with all those fees you might get a retractable roof.
