Welcome to
SAVEMYSONLOGAN

T
he Fight for my son's life first began back in January of 2003. My son Logan now (age 5) moved in with my wife Carrie and me after a separation from a former ralationship at the age of 15 months. This web-site is about his life in my own words, some of you may see it from a different point of view however, the facts remain, a crime has been commited against my son.

Logan's journey, my journey, and Carrie's journey have been long and painstaking at the least. We never dreamed that our family that we built for
our son Logan based on Love & Devotion would be ripped apart nearly four years after living in our home.

Our family has gone through a living hell at many times in our lives but, because we have to understand and Never Give up, things as we know it have a way of coming back around!

Voices From a Locked Room (climbing higher than before) we are looking for a realese date around late May 2007 or June 2007, sorry! Then I will be visiting dozens of citites with my new book. We are planning to sell 50,000 copies of my new book this year. I will update the cities where I will be speaking and post them on www.chadgaines.com

A NOTE TO THE READER OF THIS WEB-SITE:

No part of this web-site has ever been under any means destined to be used as a reprisal or as an opportunity to be harmful to anyone, but rather to serve a purpose and make available a tool for other individuals who may deal with the same challenges as myself and my brave son according to me. Someone else viewing this site might have a different perspective on the topic Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and I truely respect that, however, it does not change mine.
What are the effects of FASD

The effects of FASD vary among affected individuals.
Outcomes assoicated with FASD can include:

   * Specific facial characteristics
   * Growth deficits
   * Mental Retardation
   * Heart, lung, and kidney defects
   * Hyperactivity & behavior problems
   * Attention & memory problems
   * Poor coordination or motor skill delays
   * Difficulty with judgment and reasoning
   * Learning disabilities
FACT: FASD affects an estimated 40,000 infants each year, in 2001, my son Logan was one of those infants. FASD effects more than Spina Bifida, Down Syndrome and Muscular Dystrophy combined!

"Of all the substances of abuse (including cocaine, heroin and marijuana) , alcohol produces by far the most serious neurobehavioral effects in the fetus."

* Children do not need to have full Fetal Alcohol Syndrome to have significant difficulties due to prenatal exposure to alcohol. Even one quarter ounce of absolute alcohol daily can have adverse affects on the child's verbal language and comprehension skills. Damage to the brain from alcohol exposure can have an adverse affect on behavior.

* Sometimes the person's behavior is misinterpreted as willfull misconduct, but for the most part, maintaining good behavior is outside of the child's control, especially in stressful or stimulating situations.

* Most children with FASD have some attachment issues, may display inappropriate sexual behaviors, show poor judgment, have difficulty controlling thier impules, are emotionally immature, and need frequent reminders of rules. As a result, many will require the protection of close supervion for the rest of their lives.

* By the time these children with FASD reach the age of 18 their problems will only increase to dissatisfaction toward others, unpredictable and impulsive behavior, depression, and suicidal attempts.
