1) The door was removed and filled with the wall reconstruction.
2) The wood paneling was removed from all of the walls and replaced with drywall. This particular wall was torn down, moved 4 feet back and then built the length of the room.
3) The drop ceiling was removed. In it's place went drywall covered with acoustical tile. Not only is it wonderfully quiet but we gained about a foot of headroom! The flourescents were yanked and replaced with in ceiling cans. 
1) The stairway lookout was filled and the wall lengthened to accomodate the extra 4' mentioned above.
2) This closet consumed 20 sq/ft of floor space... outta here! Unfortunately the water meter resides within. After framing that we were able to get away with a much smaller inconvenience. With the removal of the closet and the wall (#2 above) being moved, we ended up with a room 15' in width vs 8'.
