"Swimming Is Overrated" EP Studio Journal
Day 1
12/23/04- Our first day in the studio to record our upcoming EP--two days before Christmas. We were in there for about 6 hrs laying down all the music tracks. It took about an hour to get all the levels perfect and sound checked before we ran through all the songs and layed down the drum tracks. Next came any necessary guitar and bass parts. Boy I am glad Adan ran (ok drove) over to Taco Bell. I was starving afterwards. Anyway, we are all really stoked for this EP. The music sounds great. We are heading back into the studio in early January to lay down the vocals. Then mixing and mastering. Good times await. Photos
Day 2
1/2/05- Second day in the studio. We all had a good Christmas I think. Got some *sweet hookups* at Guitar Center. Oh yeah, Adan got a new guitar. It's a really nice expensive black Gibson. Today we were in the studio for another 5.5 hrs. First Bryce dubbed in some acoustic parts (you guys will like those). Adan also had to finish the last part of Crashing Down. Most of today was well spent on vocal tracks for all the songs. One song even has Adan, Pierre, and Puddles on vocals. Cool. Heck yes it is. Oh, we got some Dominos. MMHMM yum. Well, folks it looks like we will have a finished product tomorrow. Who likes mixing and mastering? Be on the lookout for some new songs on Purevolume in the next week. Until then....keep you're stick on the ice
Pictures coming soon
Day 3
1/3/05- Mixing ended up taking longer than expected. We don't really care because the songs sound great. We fully mixed 3 songs and started mixing the drums for a fourth song. The EP is starting to take shape and we are finally getting what we want for all our work. In the mixing process we also added vocal and drum effects to parts of some songs. It was a long, but rewarding day. By the time 10 o'clock came around we were all pretty beat and headed home...
Day 4
1/3/05- We dropped in today for 2.5 hours to finish mixing Speed Of Sound and all of Deep Red Line. They turned out great. There are still a few levels that we need to change, but basically all we have left is mastering. Mastering will take place within the next week and we should have 2 songs available to stream online after that. Keep checkin this journal and our purevolume and myspace sites for the lastest..

Day 5
1/3/05- We made it. The mastering day. It didn't take too long. John needed to make sure all the songs were loud and the same levels. We also decided on the number of seconds between songs and the order. We are having an artist paint the cover as of right now. After that's finished it should be a fast track to the release. We are beginning to plan a CD Release show so be looking for that. "Swimming Is Overrated", (yes that's the name of it) is kickin'(kickin cats that it is). Check out 3 of the tracks for yourself. Listen to Speed of Sound and Crashing Down on Purevolume and November frost on Myspace.
