Educational Outcomes for Students Transferred from Warren
What they say ...
The
school administration and others have repeatedly stated that transferring
students from Crawford School to newer facilities will improve their
educational opportunities. They have
used the closing of Warren Elementary in 2000 as an example of a successful
transfer when Warren students were moved to Meadows and Lost Creek.

Indiana Department of Education publishes statistics which compare the actual
ISTEP performance at schools to predicted performance. The predictions account for the cognitive
ability of students and their socioeconomic status. Over two-thirds of schools in Indiana are classified as “near
predicted,” “above predicted,” or “far above predicted.”

In
2001, Meadows was “below predicted” in 4 of 6 ISTEP subscores, and Lost Creek
was “below predicted” in 4 of 6 ISTEP subscores. These were the WORST performances in comparison to predicted
scores in Vigo County elementary schools.
