An Ode to Piracy

Search the annals of our history,
you'll find a rare and treacherous breed,
a band of cutthroat pirates
with a taste for rum and greed.

They roamed the Caribbean coastline,
on the trail of worldly treasures.
The likes of Captain Kidd and Blackbeard
committed larceny for pleasure.

They waged war for many centuries,
and kissed a many maiden fare.
They took their gold, jewels, and innocence,
left them laying breathless and bare.

They attacked with mighty cannon blasts
their reign of terror caused upheaval.
They took their captain down in mutiny,
for serving biscuits laced with weevils.

They toasted victories with wine and ale,
battled treacherous seas and typhoons.
They lost their lives in shipwrecks,
divided their bounty of gold doubloons.

Pirates loved to pillage and plunder,
as they sailed the torrid seas.
But, no finer world existed,
then a merry life of piracy.
