Christmas in July

It happened in July,
Oh how I wonder why?
The weather turned from hot to icy.

In a torrid atmosphere,
A snowstorm did appear,
Road conditions went from clear to dicey.

For two weeks every night,
Pine trees were glowing bright,
My radios were acting very strange.

Deck the Halls, Jingle Bells,
Christmas carols we know well,
this time of year seem a bit deranged.

Eight reindeer. A toy filled sled.
A bearded fat man dressed red.
Everything was happening out place.

Christmas stockings, mistletoe,
Gift-wrapped presents, Ho, Ho, Hos,
Put a giant smile little Rachels face.

Her grey eyes could not hide,
The merriment she felt inside,
Rachels love of Christmas day became a vice.

She had so much Christmas cheer,
And it all seemed crystal clear,
Oh why cant Santa Clause visit twice?

So she started a campaign,
Her calls and letters were a pain,
Her signed petitions inundated the North Pole.

Mrs. Clause was in a tizzy,
Santa Clause was getting dizzy,
Elfin anger was a hard thing to control.

Rachels cause was never fleeting,
Her and Santa arranged a meeting.
Santa faced her down. Asking why?

In a momentary stutter,
With kindness she did utter.
We need a second Christmas in July.

Santa Clause left out a giggle.
His belly started to wiggle.
Little Rachel raised an eyebrow in a stare.

In an instant Santa knew,
Her wishes would come true,
Breaking Rachels heart, Santa could not bare.

I give in Santa shouted,
His reply was never doubted,
Ill deliver Christmas season twice a year.

Now each December and July,
Santa gladly passes by,
As Rachel yells a thank you Santa cheer.
