The Asian Invasion

They come over in droves
From a multitude of locations,
Their coal black eyes are bright,
With the glow of intelligence.
Bubbling with industrious spirit.
They reach for the American Dream,
Impervious to the indignities of sweatshops,
Fingers worn raw from over use.
Their flat foreheads, slanted eyes,
Raven-like hair, and boisterous voices,
Dominate the entrepreneurial world
Of massage parlors, nail emporiums,
And restaurants featuring Asian cuisine.
While many in their countries of origin
Endure poverty, hardships, and persecution.
Here, in the Land of Free and the Home of Brave,
They flourish, like a phoenix rising from its own ashes.
