The Monkey is Dead, Long Live the Monkey

Any time you might read this, and any time you might remember it.

Those of you who knew the Monkey, and those of you who have just now realized we exist(ed), know this: betrayal has thrown the figurative "spanner in the works". The Savage Monkey is no more, and will never be again. Due to the high-minded thinking of three of her members, the Monkey has been torn limb from limb from limb from limb from limb from limb. It was seen as appropriate to - behind the back of the bassist - secretly oust him from the group in favor of a younger, more naive musician. Obviously, the remaining members had one line of thought: since Evan (the bassist) is not "trying" hard enough, we will enlist a sophomore, who will - due to our upperclassmen status - actually believe we possess musical talent, though only one of us actually takes lessons in his instrument and can play something besides memorized tunes. In the process, they also neglected to note that Evan was entering his second straight year of practicing bass with Ken Fitzsimmons, former bassist for Little Blue Crunchy Things and possessor of an M.A. in jazz bass from the U.W. Two of the three offending members are not blamed by me (Evan, the bassist); however the third - being Kevin Reshcke - has lost much of the respect he once and might have had. Rather than bring the issue to light and inform me that the other members had a problem, he chose to covertly decide amongst the two to simply exclude me from the band. It is my firm belief that Kevin, being the academic and arrogant person he is, didn't feel it was neccesary to inform the co-founder of the band that he no longer belonged to it. Interestingly enough, Ted brought on Kevin secretly in a declining age of the Monkey (Summer of 2000), believing that his talent could add something to the group. Ted, perhaps unwittingly, directly began the fall of the Monkey by neglecting to inform me of the Reschke acquisition, thereby not only deteriorating inter-band relations, but also brining on the most destructive force the SM world ever saw. Kevin ended up throwing me out onto the street from the figurative Savage Monkey Hotel, forming the new "Rise to Vote Sir" in the meantime, whose name although it is novel, is also quite juvenile in its nature when you consider the only reason it was chosen was because it can be spelled the same way forwards and backwards. I can picture someone sitting in his basement giggling and thinking to himself, "Heheheh, it's like, the same both ways man! It means nothing, but it's like, the same, dude.." Just one fine example of how any lyric, title or name that sounds remotely significant or metaphorical can be idolized by young people of low mental ability. Now that this has been said, I feel that the Monkey public has been informed of the truth. You realize now that the egotistical redhead is the one responsible for bringing about the death of the divine dream that was Savage Monkey. Perhaps Rise to Vote Sir will perform some shows, perhaps not; either way, RTVS can be equated with the end of SM. The Monkey has been caged, tortured, experimented on and killed. It has been stabbed in the back by a boy who - much like Adolf Hitler of the 20th century - was able to convince a weak-minded group to obey his self-serving ways. Verily, it is a sad time, but the final glowing ember in the eye of the dying Monkey will someday ignite another musical force; more powerful and more complete than SM or RTVS could ever hope to be. Where, when and what it will be no one can know, but you may find truth in this final saying and metaphor... Although all things must pass, the phoenix of this all-powerful unknown band will rise from the ashes of the fallen Monkey, shining the light of Truth in the Shadowed Crevices of Bad Music and Corruption and bringing greatness once again to the land. Goodbye Loyal Monkians And Deceivers Alike; Goodbye For Now And Until The Second Coming, Live With The Memory of SAVAGE MONKEY. (note: This is one of the most well-written, funniest, and creative things ever written, so says Ted, although most of it isn't true. I don't actually know why anyone writes anything on here because no one reads it except us.)

This Band Had Michael Moore's Seal of Approval!

About The (deceased) Band

Although the Monkey no longer exists, they did at one time have "inspirations": Little Blue Crunchy Things, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead, 311, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, John Williams and many un-named others. They were from Madison, Wisconsin; home of free liberal thinking and the school board that debated the pledge of alligiance into incomprehensibility. All four members were juniors in high school.

{Founder} Ted Bach. Once took guitar lessons from Mike Wengler of LBCT and Marques Bovre and the Evil Twins.

{Founder} Evan Hill. Deceived by those who he once considered friends. Takes bass lessons from Ken Fitzsimmons of LBCT and Kissers fame. Plays piano and trumpet, but does not use either one often.

Dane Crozier. Possibly the most musically accomplished member of the (deceased) Monkey, he takes lessons in drums from Vickie Jenks. Also plays piano, marimba and assorted percussion instruments.

Kevin Reshcke. A brilliant mind in a cheap white suit, selling his devious wares on the streets, peddling redemption to the weak minded. Plays guitar well. Ask him to play an E flat scale, or an arpeggio in F and see what happens, it's good. Brought on board the (deceased) Monkey boat by Ted Bach.

A Note...

Evan is embittered that he was asked to leave a band that wasn't going anywhere. He was asked to leave because he didn't want to have practice hardly ever and he didn't seem very committed to the actual band, he only cared about the idea of a band. Don't worry about him, he's OK. No hard feelings. Although, Kevin feels hurt. Did you read what Evan wrote about him? It's harsh!
