It is the Christian new year 2004, and almost no uses the Savage4 except for me. I could figure this out a "Savage Warriors" page, called Ali Nakki, a Turkish guy who had spent quite some time on his Savage4, he has a Geforce4 but still tries some DX9 games with the Savage. The only reason I am mentioning him is because if it wasnt for him, I would have never got the "dream driver" which had Anisotropic filtering support. The 8.09.02. How did I come to know? If you check the Rels3.doc file in driver pack 8.10.33 then you will find this line, under driver version 8.09.02:
Restored support for Anisotropic Filtering
Dont be so happy, S3 shortly disabled it (8.09.05):
Disabled Anisotropic Filtering to fix DCT failures
By the way if anyone has a later pack of this Rels.doc file please send it to me, it is very useful, atleast for me, in spotting which driver I should try next instead of trying all 50+ drivers!!
Back to my problem, if I really had a hogging bus problem the drivers 8.09.02 and 8.09.05 should have worked perfectly since they have the latency timer set as 32 clocks (see this for details). And this is another reason I was dying for these drivers. BUT NO!!
Even then my computer crashed in Final Fantasy 7, Tomb Raider 4, Hitman...anygame. SO the problem is found, my ******** sound, ESS 1868 (the worlds worst sound card)(had to be in my computer!!), has a problem with PCI Savage4. Somehow with the ESS 1868 disabled, all drivers (even the worst) seem to work fine. Now I dont want to go buying a PCI sound card, but instead I will use this Savage4 in my future computer.
Here are the results:

Here are the results:

Sorry Ali Nakki, but your driver didnt help, if I disable the ESS 1868 the driver passes all tests. Your website has a lot of broken links so I couldnt download 8.20.35 (for PCI) and test them. Any way the texture bug in Hitman hasnt been fixed in 8.09.02.
FSAA
and Anisotropic filtering isnt much fun with those texture problems!!
