I DON'T CARE ============ Tiara, Malaysia zahira@pl.jaring.my Darren boards this subway train, which is not too full of people. In the next carriage is Daniel, but Darren doesn't realize this yet. He sits next to a long-haired teen listening to a Discman, and in front of him is an old man. When he sings "And the sunlight warms the faces", a sunray enters the train, lightening up the faces in the carriage. At the words "But I need a conversation", Darren tries to start up a conversation with the teen, but the teen doesn't notice him. Darren looks out of the window and sees a lot of people - toddlers, ladies selling vegetables, some teenagers, etc. On the 2nd verse ("I ride this train...imagination racing") Darren walks around the train, and his imagination takes over. He sees a couple sitting next to each other and imagines them in wedding clothes. He then sees a man handling a briefcase, and imagines him in his office, with people surrounding him. He sees a teenage girl looking forlorn, and imagines her riding on a car, crowned as Homecoming Queen. By this time he would have reached "No I wasn't staring, I was only trying" and the girl realizes that Darren was staring at her. Darren realizes this too and quickly moves away. He reaches the end of the carriage (a door) and through this door he sees the people in the next carriage. For a split second he sees Daniel...but when he rubs his eyes Daniel is gone. Darren thinks about opening the door, but as soon as his hand reaches the bar, he changes his mind and pulls his hand away. Just as Darren walks away he hears a knocking on the door, turns around and sees Daniel calling him over. Darren hesitates for a while, but decides to follow Daniel. Just as he reaches the door, the train stops, Daniel disappears and Darren decides to get out of the train. He looks around and sees Daniel smiling at him before disappearing into the crowd. (By this time the song would have ended) Darren looks bewildered and walks away, in the opposite direction.
